Roslagsbanan is a narrow-gauge local railway line in the Stockholm County. It has a track width of 891 mm.
The railways in Roslagen began to be built at the end of the 19th century by the Stockholm-Rimbo Railway, the Uppsala-Länna Railway, the Länna-Norrtälje Railway and the Dannemora-Hargs Railway. The companies were bought by Stockholm-Rimbo Railway, which changed its name to Stockholm-Roslagen railways. In 1951 the companies were nationalized and in 1959 they became part of SJ. When Roslagen's railways were at their peak, the total length of the railways was 325 km.
Today's Roslag railway is a smaller part of the railways that Stockholm-Roslagens Railway's owned and operated. The total length is today 65 km. Since 1972, the railway has been owned by SL.
