Exploring Abruzzo - Eremo San Bartolomeo, Majella, Abruzzo [Italy]

Abruzzo has many hermitages you can visit but the ‘Eremo di San Bartolomeo in Legio, located in the Maiella National Park is one of the most spectacular. Built before the 11th century and restored in 1250 by Pietro del Morrone who later became Pope Celestino V, it is situated under a rocky ridge thoroughly blending it into the landscape of the Majella National Park.
Join us for a beautiful walk surrounded by stunning landscapes as we make our way to the hermitage from Decontra and have a look inside one of Abruzzo's many spectacular ancient buildings.

What a beautiful day you had, lucky you! Thank you for permitting me to virtually live these unique moments, I wish I were there too. Quanto mi manca l'Italia in giornate come questa! Ciao (a nostalgic Italian stuck in the Netherlands, at least for now, but who knows...)

Just subscribed! I'm from Rome and my ideal landscape is the countryside north of Rome. Of Abruzzo I know best the National Park and the town of Pescasseroli, but I'd like to explore more of the region, and also the Marche. Life here is good and luckily in Groningen there are enough Italian friends. However it's Italy itself that I miss (and I'm a painter!, mainly inspired by landscapes), it's geological diversity, it's culture etc.

Thanks for subscribing! Ah the Eternal City! Beautiful. We like taking a little trip there every now and then. Yes, you must explore more of Abruzzo. I totally get what you mean about Italy though. Whenever we travel to a different region we realise just how diverse Italy is. Every region is like its own country. There's just so much to experience! Your country is amazing!
