There was an old theatre in Dublin called the Stella that has been revived in recent years and made into a luxury art deco cinema. I visited in February 2020 and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Comfy chairs with blankets, elegant lamps and beautiful 1920s style surroundings. The ushers even deliver hot food and snacks to your seat during the movie. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had and it just goes to show what can be created with the right amount of investment and creativity. I hope the same can happen for this theatre someday. 😊

Depends on the explore. The night helps to avoid being seen, and the natural loss of noise pollution makes it easier to listen out for detection. With that comes that desolate, mission-like feel. The tradeoff is it's harder to watch your step, and night is the time dodgy people like to come out, so daytime explores are best where safety needs to be considered over everything

This is spot on! We consider all of these possibilities and then decide whether to explore during the night or the day.

Awesome vid :) I actually used to work at this theatre in 2004/5 as a stagehand. It was run down back then but to see it in such a state now is heartbreaking. It’s a huge place with so much history and so much potential. Unfortunately the area it’s in is so neglected that I doubt it’ll ever see any investment or care.

Glad you enjoyed it! Must have been interesting to see it in this state after working there. It's a huge shame that it doesn't seem like anything is happening currently.

@@Urbandoned Not if we can do something about it. I'm putting together a Retro Decade Revival Project. Our goal is to bring real entertainment, true talent, pure originality and variety, old school, and more back into the public mainstream. One of the goals is 100% historic restoration.

Yet another beautiful building sadly left to decay. The theatre was stunning, but in these times would be impractical with seating according to social distancing and complying with all the new rules and regulations, let alone insurance cost and security would be a no go. I don't mind if you explore night or daytime, whichever is more safe for you. Thank you for sharing this.

Another brilliant video guys. It's heartbreaking to see these buildings struggling to hold on - between this building, the art school, the institute, so much promise and then council funding just falls off and it's down to private trusts to try and source hugely sought after pots of heritage cash to keep these magnificent places barely hanging on. I like daytime explorations if buildings aren't boarded up - something about the play of the natural light adds to nature's effect on the place.

  • @Urbandoned

The theatre is beautiful also we won't always be social distancing. So dim comments about it being impractical as good as removing seats on a bus. I think you guys have got it spot on with the timings for example on a personal level schools and supermarkets in the day cinemas and asylums at night.

I'm probably wrong but are you sure it was built for a theatrical purpose, shouldn't it have a slanted / stepped ground floor.I've never been in a theater with a flat floor. As regards night and day, the windows aren't boarded up your using torches and there is pig sty at the end of the street I'll let you do the maths. I'm sorry I was messing around with a cable and missed it was a town hall the chamber was turned into the theatre. They did that in Dublin they turned the lecture theatre of the royal collage of surgeons into our national concert hall.

I personally 100% prefer explorations during the day if its somewhere that gets natural light. Basements or underground bunkers, fair enough as you need a torch anyway but otherwise natural light shows the features of what you are exploring and that is after all, the reason you are there.

Hey Chris! with a little logic and detective work its quite easy to find these places, just have to listen and look around in the background and be observant. The last video I watched had a Sainsburys in the picture and it turned out to be the Grand theatre Doncaster, Google helps!

  • @CristanBoerg

@@Antony_Jenner No, please do everything possible to keep the location secret! Otherwise within days or weeks, you will not recognise this place again! There are so many dumb people out there who are just waiting to be served with another location they can destroy. And anyway - Urbandoned doesn't make it very hard to find that location. I had just to do a single google query...

I think it's best that urban explorers keep the location a secret because it usually only leads to idiots smashing the place up and trying to set the building on fire.
