My family mined in Ruby. I went there in 1990. What I remember most was the stories of Gold like rocks all over the ground, the old Catholic Church on the way in. Lastly my dad and uncle swore the main gold vein was never found. We didn't go into the town but the stories of growing up, to me was the real gold.

@@robbie.rambles I wish I could pin point the old building. It's made out of brick. The route we took was from Airavaca, AZ. Unfortunately that generation has passed away, so I have no one I can ask. I bet there was a old town nearby. Anyways, God bless and keep up the your channel. I love history and thank you for the nice return comment. I look forward to more of your posts.

How do they know a main gold vein existed? Just curious
@scottmyers5828

@@Flexyourmemes Probably just a legend that they heard as kids and wanted to believe it was a fact. Miners are like that. My dad mined in San Manuel AZ when I was born. Keep in mind from the "Lost Dutchman's mine" in the Superstition Mountains to Globe AZ. I could go on but that area is full of productive mines. So it's not so far fetched. To answer your question directly. They don't. Thank you for your interest and have a great day

Growing up in Tucson, from the late 1950's till 1969-ish, our across-the -street neighbor's, dad of Carla and Cynthia Thompson, worked at the San Manuel mine(s). Those old mines were the stuff of legend to a kid like me!

The bats (several different kinds) come to AZ to have their babies every summer. Bridges in Tucson are built to be bat friendly so people will bring their lawn chairs in the summer to watch tens of thousands of bats fly out every evening. Natural pest control!

None of you people know me, But I am a man who has traveled on nearly every road across America. That was my education. I have been a Historic Story Teller and Character Entertainer in many old Historic places, As a Coast to Coast and Border to Boarder Trucker I made it my life learning about the many places I have been. I had a lot of Photos and 8 MM silent Movies, But was not born to the more modern ways. Many older people may have seen and met me in several old Ghost Towns and their commemoration and Celebrated events. I have played many Character's. I wish I was younger so I could start a program of all the History I have lived a part of.

At one time when I was young and beautiful, you could not, absolutely not go up there, because at that time there were many " loco" miners, with Winchester rifles or pistoleros that would that would shoot your ass of there area, or so they thought it was there's,...there at that time there were many frightening, useless, drunkerd miners trying to find the hidden gold, they knew was there, it was dangerous to go up in the Ruby hills, and if you did you could become the newest member of any cemetery close by, if they found you after you were shot, but it is a very, interesting old area....by!
