When we visited Montville, we wandered along the main street, explored the unique shops, and enjoyed coffee and sweets at Priscillas Gallery. We hiked to Kondalilla Falls, discovered Baroon Pocket Dam, and walked down to Obi Obi Creek.
Montville was settled in 1887, and the tree-lined main street has a blend of heritage Tudor and English-style buildings and an old mill water-wheel.
At the Chocolate Country Shop, you will find a huge selection of luxurious Belgian Chocolates that have all been handcrafted onsite. They also have a cafe that serves coffee and delicious hot chocolate.
The Clock Shop was established in 1993 and is housed in a German chalet-inspired stone and shingle building. It has an impressive range of cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, watches and traditional German items.
We enjoyed coffee and sweets at Priscilla’s Gallery, a cosy cafe with a collection of locally sourced artisan art, crafts and produce.
Fudgyboombahs has a huge range of different flavoured fudge, lollies and nuts.
At Crystal Multiverse, you can discover a huge range of sensational crystals, minerals, fossils, unique gifts, and so much more. You can also get a photo will the giant koala and dinosaur at the front of the shop.
We also wandered around the Montville Memorial Precinct and admired the heritage buildings, including the Montville Village Hall, St Mary’s Church and the Church Hall.
A short drive from Montville, you can explore the Kondalilla National Park and see Kondalilla Falls. To reach the viewing platform, we hiked along the 1.7-kilometre trail. We passed Picnic Creek Falls, a lovely little waterfall you can view from the bridge over the creek.
We enjoyed stunning views from the Obi Valley Lookout. We also detoured to see the Rockpools, a popular swimming spot. Kondalilla Falls is a spectacular 80-metre waterfall created when Skene Creek drops dramatically over the cliff to the rainforest valley below.
Baroon Pocket Dam is located between Montville and Maleny and was built across Obi Obi Creek. The dam supplies water to the Sunshine Coast area, and when it's full, it holds 61,000 megalitres of water. The northern side recreational day-use area has picnic huts, BBQs, toilets and a swimming area.
Just before the entry to Lake Baroon, there is a car park for the Kondalilla National Park. Several walking tracks start from here, and we wandered down the 500-metre path through beautiful bushland to the Obi Obi Creek.
