No doubt about it! Hyde Park is a great lakefront neighborhood in Chicago.👍 Excellent video 🎥.
I lived in Hyde Park from 1960 to 1964---the area was a whole different animal back then. I was only 4 months of age until age four, but I can imagine walking the streets of Hyde Park at night was probably safer.
Favorite place that I want to explore in the future
The gentrified Hyde Park Chicago!!
Within the confines of the university, it is wonderful. But if you step outside of that area, the neighborhood deteriorates into a crime-ridden ghetto. A little girl who sang at Obama's second inaugural lived in that area, just a few blocks from his home. - and she was killed in a drive-by shooting.

I lived in Chicago while attending Northwestern University Medical School and rode a bus (advised to leave my auto at home) to the Museum of Science and Industry-of course, thus, viewing the University of Chicago campus and now to the new Obama Center in the neighborhood. The photo this morning at the University of Chicago campus differs by race with what are the surrounding southside neighborhoods. Northwestern, by the way, has their Medical School at LakeShore Drive, north and the main campus north in elite Evanston, Illinois which is reached by tram!
