Explore Freetown, Sierra Leone with Lansana Mansaray

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Sierra Leone's capital is home to around one million people and is known for its cultural, religious and ethnic diversity. Enjoy Filmmaker Lansana Mansaray's tour around his city. The area around Freetown was settled in 1787 by freed slaves. It became a melting pot for liberated African and Caribbean settlers. The Cotton Tree in the city center reflects Freetown's unique history.

I was happy there and would love to go back to visit one day. I think I was about 4 now 62. I was actually Christened at a Church near the Hill Station Club.

I lived in Bo area for a few years. I came there, the village built my house in a village I promised never to reveal the where abouts. I came with my wife and son. She was mistaken for a meirmade because of her long hair. I lost contact with my friends there, because my luggage was lost the day I left and the number area code changed too. I really loved Serria Leone and have tried to contact them for many yrs. They said if I leave and don't come back, they will loose face. I pray I can return again. They were so open and caring to me and my family. I must return. Or at least get a message to Victor Mbawa.

Thank you very much my dear brother.please leap an eye as we are hearing a lot of stories renting our water quay and tagrin and all the harbour areas to Turkey for 25yrs. We hope that this not going to happen.there are certain areas that should not be tampered with in sierra leone.you can't just sell any country with out even discussing it with the citizens. But we are waiting. We do need investors but not this way. We need transparency.

Hi, I am Nigerian and have never been to S/Leone. However, during my doctoral studies, I had cause to make a lot of references to Freetown, to the freed slaves of Igbo origin who were resettled there. I’m interested in continuing my research, this time on possible remnants of Igbo language and heritage in Freetown. Any idea how I can take off with this? Any resource person to refer me to? Any suggestions? Warm regards. Uche
