Exploratory: Billygoat Creek, BC | First Known Descent
Спорт
Behind the top of Blackcomb gondola, we find a stunning alpine crossing and steep woody creek...

Thanks to JB and DT for contributing footage and inspiring the mission.
A local kayaker and BC river archivist told us he was unaware of any prior paddling missions on this creek. Please let us know if you've heard of any.

radness! Congrats
Looks like the First Descent Machines are now in second gear.
Hell yeah. I hope people appreciate not only the boating but the amount of research Jeff puts into finding these rivers and creeks. Mind-blowing .

Where we at on spray skirts? Anything remotely bomber to pair w the Valkyrie yet? Looking forward to that critical piece catching up with those awesome boats.

Alpackas HD skirts are pretty good - i havent seen any meangingful damage, implosion is very rare, but the on/off action over the coaming isnt perfect. IR is about to release an alpacka skirt, that one will be super legit.

Interesting things happening when you give good kayakers sweet inflatables.
👍👏
What brand and model pack rafts are these. Very cool video!

@@jeffreycreamer Thanks! That's what I thought but the logo didn't look like the Alpacka logo. Cool trip!
Really nice video. On the map I was thinking camps look tightly spaced but its easy to see why with things like 2:24. Crazy to think about the flows that creek must see

Haha yeah, working with wood and gradient it was a full days effort to go about 3 miles!
On steep continuous creeks with wood hazards like this, are you guys scouting everything or are you relying on good boat control to stop if you see a hazard?

The wood and features were mostly too difficult to reliably predict from boat scouting positions on this one. In general on runs we read and run/boat scout anything we can. On this creek it took 2 full days to navigate the first 5 miles(!)
Did you scout this run above the rapids or just boat scout and read and run it ?

A great deal of out of boat scouting with all the wood!
