I enjoyed this poem a whole lot & your way of explaining the analysis of this poem was too good. Thanks a bunch & I hope it'll be more fruitful for me & others. Also I kindly request you to make a detailed analysis of the poem "THE LOVE UNFEIGNED, BY : GEOFFREY CHAUCER."

Good suggestion. At some point in the distant future I'll probably get around to it. :)
Thanks from DU bd.
I feel there is only the literal meanings are drawn what about the analysis in between the lines !
His wife leans with him as he stretches. So thats why he end up where he start streching.compass Erecting and stay together
So Donne was cheating on his wife and wrote this poem in order not to get his wife suspicious :D To be serious though, Thank you so much for the videos, you helped a lot for my quiz tomorrow :)
@thenatureofwriting9222

Ha! That's a very suspicious interpretation. :) Hope your quiz went well.
7:15 I think Donne knew “erect” has a sexual connotation
@thenatureofwriting9222
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, he would have known, and he certainly adds plenty of innuendo to other poems. However in this context the word applies to his wife, which I suspect would make the sexual connotation less likely.
@Le_Samourai

@@thenatureofwriting9222 yea it applies to the wife but I think the sexual connotation is still there. Besides, clits and nipples can get erect too
@thenatureofwriting9222

@@Le_Samourai Fair enough, it is a possibility. We don't have to be prudish about these things. I guess the question is how strong such innuendo would be, and I don't see it being pervasive in this poem (unlike in, say, "The Flea.")
