    Can you please review knee flexion to become corrected to knee Extension @18.30🌷 This is because a formal website mentions that Knee TS to IC: 30 degrees flexion to neutral = Extension hamstrings are to decelerate hip flexion / prevents hyperextension of the knee, and not to do hip flexion 🦆

    Thank you so much. Sorry one question, why does the knee not use concentric knee extensors from midswing to terminal swing? the picture looks like the knee is extending

  • @ConqueringtheNPTE

    @ConqueringtheNPTE

    Thanks for your question! Good observation, because we are extending the knee from midswing to terminal swing. However, remember that "concentric" means you have to generate the motion (make it happen). From midswing to terminal swing, we have momentum from initiating our swing that we don't need concentric muscles to work - we just "coast". Hopefully that makes sense!

    @@ConqueringtheNPTE Thank you! So would it be eccentric knee flexors instead since we are letting it coast?

    Hello. Thanks for the question! From terminal swing to initial contact, the knee does go into extension. Take a look at 18:32 in the video and pause there. It should include the entire slide including a description below, which tells us the knee is moving into extension. Does this answer your question?

    Thank you for making gait topic easy I would like to ask one question 1) from Terminal stage to initial swing all m hve to work essentricly to contrôl the ground force right..?(18:40) Then it should be essentric PF contractions on ankle right..?

  • @ConqueringtheNPTE

    @ConqueringtheNPTE

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Binal! Thanks for the question. You are right that we often have to control the ground reaction force, however we would not have eccentric plantarflexors working because from terminal stance to initial swing, you have to get your foot off the ground (traditional terminology is toe off to acceleration), so you would require a contraction to generate force, making it concentric plantarflexors. Hopefully that makes sense but please ask any other clarifying questions.

    For IC to LR isnt the moment a Hip Flexion moment using ECCentric Hip Extensors and then LR to MSt it's going from a Hip Flexion moment to a Hip Extension moment and using ECCentric Hip Extensors with the help of the Passive Y-Ligament? @8:43, just wanted to clarify!

  • @ConqueringtheNPTE

    @ConqueringtheNPTE

    Thanks for the question! We leave out "moments" due to the confusing nature, though do recognize that gait is a MUCH more in-depth topic than we state here. This video is mainly for purposes of simplifying and studying for the examination, therefore the basics to get out of the video are the muscles that are working (yes, hip eccentric extensors to slow down hip extension from TS to IC, probably transitioning from hip eccentric extensors to hip concentric flexors around IC to LS through MS, though the exact moment this changes over is beyond the scope of the video). You also bring up a great point with the ligaments, which absolutely play a role, however is also beyond the scope of this video.

    From IC to LR it is said that the hip extension is because of concentric hip flexors but it is written concentric hip extensors. I'm confused! Is it a typo or I missed sth? (7:15)

  • @ConqueringtheNPTE

    @ConqueringtheNPTE

    10 ай бұрын

    @ladanrz5272 Thanks for pointing this out! Yes, it is a mistake, because it should be the concentric hip extensors that are working to move the hip into extension. Please let us know if that doesn't clarify the question.

    @@ConqueringtheNPTE Hey sorry for the late response (16.58) mid swing to terminal swing we are going to 1)more hip flexion to less Hip flexion towards gravity--so, would not be Hip flexion ECCENTRIC and same KF ECCENTRIC nd Df ECCENTRIC because they are going towards ground so we need a control?? Thank you for always replies

    @@Gujju_no_vat_6_bhai Specifically from mid-swing to terminal swing, the hip is doing flexion. But in the next phase, from terminal swing to initial contact, the hip is slowing down. From mid-swing to terminal swing, the hip is indeed flexing (think of it like lifting your leg from behind you to in front of you - you're sort of doing a "march" motion in which the hip flexes and moves against gravity). For the knee, from mid-swing to terminal swing, it is moving from flexion to extension (it's extending) and when you straighten your leg in a standing position, you're going "up" and against gravity, so both would be concentric in that case. Does that clarify it for you?

  • @alima1987
