Explaining the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) batteries I Tutorial
In the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) battery is the title given to each of the four pairs of tests which assess different aspects of ability:
- The Verbal Reasoning Battery comprises two short tests: Verbal Classification and Verbal Analogies
- The Quantitative Reasoning Battery comprises two short tests: Number Analogies and Number Series
- The Non-verbal Reasoning Battery comprises two short tests: Figure Classification and Figure Matrices
- The Spatial Ability Battery comprises two short tests: Figure Analysis and Figure Recognition.

@@vidipsahoo4968 Difficult to revise as such - the best you can do is make sure your child is familiar with the type of questions...

@@SW-fy8pq I did pretty good I think, I don't know which one I did. Because I did it for an entrance exam for a school, they did not tell us the details. Good luck to your son, and sorry I couldn't help so much
are the questions the same throughout the exam?

So what's the difference between CAT4 test and a MAP test?

The MAP test is about understanding a child's progression in a subject or topic - so it might test a child's understanding of the stages of life in Science. The CAT4 on the other hand measures a child's cognitive ability which measures things like speed of thought, problem solving ability, focus etc.. in a number of different areas - spatial ability, verbal ability and numerical ability. It provides a very good indicator of general intelligence and the child's ability to learn - but does not tell you what they know !
