Soft targets in general. If in British high-tier medium or heavy tank - side or rear armor. If shooting from an elevated position - the engine deck.

Yeah, I love how they always say "APCR loses penetration over distance faster than AP" while APCR pen at 500 meters distance is higher than AP pen at 100 meters from the same gun.

I was here to learn the game, and ended up retaking my high school pre-calculus

Like in the heat of battle you have time to calculate all of that. What about sabot? Preferably the discarding variety. Every tanker knows shape charged rounds like heat never penetrate spaced armor. That's why almost every modern tank now has fender skirts that help detonate them helping then survive a side attack. I'm guessing that most everyone knows that.

HE Shells do ricochet. Don't lie to me. It's happened multiple times. And no, none of that "we didn't pen" occurred. Cause the shell exploded next to the tank after bouncing.

Dude a he shell can not bunce it may explode and not do damage but it cant bounce

This doesnt work for russian bias

Picture a cube shaped tank. Using the dimensions of the US Abrams it would be 12 + ft. wide by 26 +ft. long by 8+ ft. in height. This cubistic shape would cover the turret, tracks (most), drive and engine. The outside material of the cube would be flat, 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate. A framework would connect it to the more conventional steel armor turret and hull. Now the space between the cube aluminum surface and the actual tank steel would vary from inches to a few feet. And most of the time the volumetric space would be empty, thereby keeping the tank's weight to 30 tons and reducing the logistics requirements. But when the "cube tank" is sent into battle, the void spaces would be filled with WATER - fifteen tons of water. Now, the various anti-tank rounds would be required to negotiate a water barrier in addition to penetrating the several inches of conventional steel tank armor that lies at the end of the ballistic penetration. Could an armor system using water in this maner serve to protect the tank? The water barrier would be destroyed in the areas where hit, but the tank and crew could fight on. If so, it would be of great historical irony. The "tank" was given its name as a means of delivering fresh water to British troops to conceal its true purpose from German intelligence in WW1.

it's big brain time. Yes, the water would protect the tank from HEAT shots, however, over time the water would run out, and you'd be left with a heavier than average spaced armor, 30 Tons is ideal, something like 33 or 32 is more realistic, even then, just a well placed shot into a lower part of the tank would render it vulnerable. Even then, modern APFSDS rounds would have no problem penetrating it, it just sounds a bit impractical to me

if every shell in the game has its advantages and disadvantages why is one ammo type on every vehicle always extremely expensive

1.this is an old video 2.This guide is useless against the 268 V4 becoz his effective armor is thinker than any premium rounds under 375mm penetration in flat ground. 3. This game is becoming take USSR tank and press W while pressing 2key. It is boring and I didn't play it since the new Russian bias came out. 4.i know wot is successful and ppl will pay for it no matter what WG does to their game. But how far can WG go like this? I am curious about it. Let's see

I am saying don't do it This game is in a much worse place than 3 years ago. We have overpowered premium tanks (you have to pay real money for them) We have wheeled vehicles which you almpst cant hit. And now we have tanks that Park on a hill and you can t penetrate them

All of the penetration values are just completely made up. Some tanks in Wot can even fire shells that they never could in real life. Also almost every tank in Wot is completely out of proportions

It's not. Way too simplistic. Incorrect angle penetration, apart from modern ones, shells do not penetrate in straight lines at angles. Normalisation calculation is a joke.

it's simple, make sure your whole tank is hidden behind the bush. If you want to shoot then go back enough so that you don't see through the bush (about 15 meters if I remember correctly). that's it, there's your camo system

From the days when tanks had weak spots like machine gun turrets, drivers hatch or lower glacis

German late tanks didnt have a good mixture of metal alloys , as they were short on materials , they made mistery mixes and you couldn't know how good it was.

Or, you know... Change 3-5-7 into 5-5-5. Everyone would have an equal chance, instead of 3 people farming half a team. 5-5-5 would mean that if anything happened to one or two of the top tier tanks, there would be more to balance it out. Since 3-5-7 is so bad, you should give it a go.

PUNISHERE989 when the nominal armour thickness surpasses the damage of the HE shell, it will cause no damage. HE cannot bounce.

How important is the speed of the shell? It is included in penetration? what about density of air and wind strikes?

Speed is important when firing to a fast and distant tank, when shooting slow tanks or close tanks it is not important, I think that speed and penetration are calculated differently.

It strikes, at five times the speed of sound, it is a dense and very heavy Pyrophoric metal which when it hits armor it's front burns away into a vapor and the point says sharp. It begins to burn as it punches though the armor and ignites Ammo, Fuel, Hydraulics, electronics Flesh and clothes it turns the interior of the vehicle into a white hot inferno of gases and sparks while super heating the air and creating an explosion. The burning DU adds the melting and burning armor of the hole to the damage. It is only slightly radioactive.

Games. The reality its compltly different. Wich shell was the most sucsseful in WW2 against tanks.!!! APCR of course. With the muzzle velocity of the German Guns, one of those shell were able to penetrante and exit on the other side. Shermans knows that very Well.
