Honestly, this was super cool to watch! It makes me think about how often I feel about my own family having totally no idea about furry as both a hobby but also how its a big part of my life. It's encouraging to see this. You were great at presenting it too!

OMG THANK YOU!!!! Rewatching it, I definitely need to work on eliminating filler words like "like" and "um"; I use them WAY too much. But yeah! I am very lucky that my family was receptive and respectful. If they weren't, there is no WAY I would've ever done something like this haha. I knew going in that they'd be chill with it :3

2016 made me think "zootopia." that was pretty popular then? what made me a furry is...anime. - me watching the "one stormy night" movie in 2008: "cringe! why'd that goat guy get with that wolf man ?? sinful" - me watching one piece in 2010: "you know...maybe furries can be cool ??" - me watching & reading all of hunterxhunter in 2013, seeing it explore many facets of what it would mean to have anthro animals irl: "aww heck, guess i totally am a furry" - re-watching one stormy night in 2016 "aw shid...i am so much like mei, falling in love with some gabu-wolf man last thanksgiving...honestly, that oughta be my sona !!!!" yes, i am so gay for many wolves or other canines

You reference Wisconsin stuff a lot, which makes me think you're from here. Your presentation was good by the way, fun and whimsical but informative. Should definitely use it for all the normies. Also, I've been a furry for 20 years now. You don't really outgrow it. You made fade out a bit, or drift out over time.

@arkbark_ I am also a Wisconsinite. We bumped in to each other in the fursuit parade this year at AC, so that's kinda funny to me. I was around 6 year for a while, but have slowed down as I've hit my mid 30s. Still go, still love to suit, it's still very much a lifestyle for me, I just can't and don't want to go out as much anymore.

@@Kieva_Storm Same!!! I think that it can get a bit expensive, and also the novelty eventually wears off. But fursuiting is always one of my favorite parts of cons! I love just being free to be however silly I want to be. I fursuit a bit out of cons, but cons are nice because they give me water and air conditioning haha.

@@Whiskerflux i mean for me, moving out of my house and going to college was a huge step. Just going to a furry con was a huge deal and really changed my life haha Idk about any cons in Ecuador, but I know there's a pretty well-attended one in Brazil... check out furry cons.com if you're interested But yeah it takes a lot of time, and taking small steps going out of your your comfort zone!

LMAOOOO something that's always slightly bothered me is that "furry" was originally used as an adjective. I kind of wish the fandom was called something different because it's kind of like saying "I am a tall" or "I am a stupid"

I think a presentation is unnecessary... that's what the first question was really asking. Like if this isn't a thing related to your identity, and it's really just a hobby, then why do this? She was confused because any normal person with a new hobby wouldn't do all this about it... You could've just not made a big deal about it and just unshamefully exhibited being a furry and if they ask, you'd answer then, naturally. Good intentions but sometimes it's just attention-seeking
