    Gang function is elusive and more specialized than common edit behaviours. One thing it’s very handy for is verifying imported EDLs or AAFs. Say another editor sends you media and an EDL from something other than Premiere, they send you a flat reference export of their whole edit as well. Load the timeline in the record monitor and then the reference file in the source window, gang them together and play to verify the media and EDL have imported correctly. You can easily see edit points that are out of sync, missing clips, bad speed changes and more. Assistant editors rely on ganging these together for timeline integrity because EDLs, AAFs and other protocols are rarely 100% perfect. Love your channel JM! ❤

    @@JavierMercedes that’s one tip for you compared to the 1227 you’ve given me. Honestly, there’s been any number of times in which I have used gang but they are not frequently repeated to be sure. It’s one of those handy oddball tools that you’re really glad exists when you need it.

    Squelsh is a matter of accepting noise and artefacts or not. If I am recording for film I would set it low, because want every word spoken on the recording, even if it’s a little noisy. If the signal goes on a P.A. at a live event, live on air at TV or to the headphones of a director I don’t want to get any noise and I prefere the signal to be muted in case. So I Set it to high… more free channels in a bank does not mean the are any better, it just means you have more channels to choose from, which comes in handy if you are using more microphones and want to have them all in the same bank (as recommended).

    Your videos explain everything in a very simple and good way. It seems to me that a lot of people are jumping over to Davinci now, what are your thoughts on that. I believe and hope Adobe will do what they can to make premiere pro better. Still think they should do something about the price, they should move away from subscription

  • @JavierMercedes

    @JavierMercedes

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Espen! The Adobe team personally flew me out to their headquarters to meet the engineers and I can assure you they are very aware of the situation and working to their best ability to come out with a quality product that runs smoothly. I don’t know how you compete with free though. And I also don’t know how long DaVinci can survive the way it is by putting out their product for free. They just need to keep everything free until they get enough market share and people dependent on their ecosystem to then start charging a subscription or some sort of fee to cover business costs. It’s impressive what they have accomplished so far.
