Happy crying rn because this is not over! Good luck with grandmaster! This will truly be an incredible challenge that I will probably follow much later than you lol (by that I mean I'm bad lol) so I guess you're ahead again! This has been a fantastical journey and I'm glad I got to go through it at the same time as you did!

GG expert! It's so cool to see how far you've come in Celeste! In addition to seeing other mods, it could be cool to see you "clean up" some of the red berries you skipped in SJ. It's a fun way to revisit earlier levels without the pressure that comes with a silver. Looking forward to the GM gym video. The crazy new tech never really stops no matter how good you get at Celeste 30:00 There's some trigger that prevents you from dashing out of that pipe to access the top area. However, using screen transitions and some interesting propeller tech, it is actually possible to climb up the left side of the airship on the outside to get to the top. (Note that you can't actually finish the screen this way as there will be a coin block blocking you.) You can then walk over the top of the airship, and there is a very minor secret if you fall down the right side. I was pretty happy to find this on my own when messing around in EHS on CelesteNet (multiplayer Celeste mod). The platforming challenge is pretty tough but quite fun as well 52:25 Aww, I wanted you to take a little look at that crevice in the ground to your right. It may or may not bring you all the way back to the bottom :) 1:00:27 It makes no difference where you climbjump from. It's exactly 1/4 of your maximum stamina. And for your next question about using visual lineups, I feel like I hear a lot of Celeste players (at least for speedruns and goldens) have pixel setups or visual cues for things, but I tend not to. For me, using those kind of setups isn't very fun. I'd rather just do things by feel as focusing too much on pixel setups takes me out of "the zone" 1:11:30 Mosaic Garden flag absolutely destroyed me. Didn't help that I was doing a semi-cursed strat where instead of sliding off those crumble blocks I would dash off of them (getting a dash refresh), which was quite tight 1:28:49 This beginning becomes a lot easier if you use the jumpthrough up above to turn around. Then instead of having to time your directions to ensure that you don't move before dashing, you can just do "neutral dashes" (dashing without holding directions to dash in the direction Madeline is facing) Nice job blowing out my 29 hour estimate. I'll cope by saying it would have been accurate with no save states, lol

I can absolutely get not liking pixel lineups, but I disagree on the visual cues as often an observer wouldn't even notice anyway as you generally would use visual cues as a better way of timing a tight input partway through a room

I believe the area in the plasma reactor map may have originally be intended to be a "golden berry route" by when carrying a golden berry, certain platforms appear and would force you to do that extra section, but I've seen Parrot's golden and it wasn't actually. Or, maybe it's just some extra decor built there? The original level author would have to confirm what was intended and maybe if that was scrapped later on, seeing as it's already an insane golden as is X) Edit: Just finished, big congrats! Welcome to GM :)

Most people probably remember those and we're similarly confused c:

gg on SJ Expert! my EHS experience was a great one, as I did it in 2 play session (each for 6 hours), and I was kind of exausted when I finally passed flag 1. Then I saw the beautiful background and block design and room transiton and I felt so good. That's why I called it my favorite celeste map. I keep replaying it, but my skill was not great so I am still taking about 1 hour to clear it every time. (for the second playthrough it took 3 hours) so, for grandmaster gym, i have a suggestion: you might need to go back to other gyms and the library and see through all the tech and mechanics again, I think that will make you understand the game better. also its probably good to do all grandmaster gym before every play session of the gm lobby. I found that pretty helpful for warm up and training.

Massive W. EHS is an unbelievable gauntlet, and around flag 4, a lot of fatigue starts to hit. That’s why I didn’t particularly like Khutara flag, and Plasma Reactor flag was probably my least favorite flag. Of course, Flag 2 and 1 (well, 1.5 and 1) are reliefs because of how fun they are. Looking forward to the GM gym, that’s sure to be a silly video with whats in the gym.

I'm still watching flag 14 but just want to say congrats before watching this! Huge, huge win. I'll edit this post with thoughts as I go, if I NEED to provide commentary. I have absolutely no idea why people modify their dash with a demo button rather than simply having...a demo button. I would just have the demo button do the demo, idk. Like yeah Storm Runner flag would be so much easier if you can do demohypers off the clouds. 1:47:48 Delaying the ultradash by a bit is a thing that I think even this map makes you do, I think. There's not really a term for it. I would still call it delaying your ultra personally, and I've heard people also call it a "lazy ultra." Whatever works to get the point across...I think part of the confusion is there's another tech that's grandmaster that might sometimes be called a delayed ultra by some people, but there's a proper term for that technique which you'll learn soon probably. :) 1:51:40 That is, in fact, how you're supposed to do it. I don't like it much either. 1:58:48 I honestly think they should take that section out. It's supposed to be purely decorative, and add to the decrepit feel of the stage, but you're one of many who complained about this. Eh, at this point they're only patching out things that are game breaking so it's probably here to stay but yeah that was one of the deco choices of all time. 2:08:15 You're so perceptive about the little micro-corrections that these levels demand. That's awesome. Done! Big win! There is Expert Lobby lore...it's very unofficial and I assume mostly just musings in Discord that made it into the deco. If you're curious about the lore, look up Gamation's Expert Heartside clear video and read his description (he was a dev/tester on SJ). It's...interesting, haha.

6:12 there is a trigger called a lookout blocker that prevents you from seeing that area. I prefer to use noded binos though (the one that is on a track, like the last bino in summit. Press N with a bino selected to add a node), that way you don't get stuck on corners of the lookout blockers, if that makes sense

5:33 Hyper dash, but yeah just "hyper" is a lot more common 16:01 It's downleft dash after the reverse super 43:45 Like here, I'd probably try to think through exactly what kind of scenario it's useful in to try and consciously get rid of the blind spot. I think with this tech the thing you need to do is that whenever you're confused about how to get more distance with a throwable, check if it's a high speed up diagonal dash into it 45:51 Yes, take that L, game! 56:30 Last time the music changed was at 46:53, so on entry to the previous flag 1:00:42 No, a climb jump always takes away exactly one quarter of your stamina. But if you need to climb upward before jumping, that takes away more because holding up while grabbing linearly consumes a lot more stamina than pressing nothing or down 1:01:00 I think mostly feeling it out. Like for example in this room when you want to jump at the very top of a corner, I don't neutral at a specific height. Instead I put the timing on the right press after the last neutral, and do that by feel which I've gotten very good at over time. Same with like every spot when I did fortress fall silver. omg lunar pagoda flag was painful when using only analog sticks for controls. Jump, dash and grab all on the same stick. It's in my EHS doublestick video if you want to look. 1:19:06 oooooihhhhhnnnnzzzdabadaaaaaa 1:21:28 By the way the amount of people who have done this golden with proof at the time of writing this, is 6. 1:36:34 Now this map has to be renamed Aquatic Ascension. Same fate as flying bottle. 1:37:53 Ok, how to tell what you did wrong: If you don't get speed and your jump is a bit less than 2 tiles tall, then you successfully hypered but didn't turn around early enough, so you just hypered towards the wall. If you don't get speed and jump high, then you either did a leftward super or pressed jump too late 1:53:43 I think it's because of a lack of variety. Its gameplay is built out of: wave dashes, lenient mid air supers, wall bounces, ultras and a few mundane dash timings. And directly after one of those wave dashes/supers/ultras, you never have to tap jump out of them, you just always hold, and you never have to stop moving in mid air. There exist plenty of other kinds of moves but garden of khu'tara like 90% of the time just puts classic speed tech after classic speed tech. Some people like that but I strongly dislike that aspect of it. 1:58:50 It might be for some really hard to do secret. I was also kinda confused with it on my first time playing. I tried to do it once but I could not figure out, seems borderline impossible even for my standards at this point. And I agree this is not the place for it. It should be a standalone well hidden room in the original map if it's even meant to be played. 2:04:59 Looking frame by frame I think what's screwing you over is you letting go of grab. You're unintentionally getting a double block boost so that's why your dash is too fast to even get a dash from the platform. You jumped frame perfectly as soon as you would get your dash back, but on the last frame of dash you were off the block already so you didn't get it. If you don't double block boost, your dash should go at around normal speed (4 px/f). 2:07:16 Appreciate the preciseness I also made a list of timestamps for this video, I'll put that in a separate comment.
