Nice tips, Greg. It's really appreciated, although it reminded the other day when i was reflecting about how much we worry about our appearence in order to look our best. Summer has just ended in Brazil and recently I felt like shaving all my beard out. Sometimes i miss the clean look, feeling the breeze and the hot wheather is a great motivation to do so. But I started to think that, of course, I look so much better with the beard. And everyone shares the same opinion about me. So i was wondering how much care we give to this thing and if it should be like this. If I want to shave it all out, i should do it. I know it doesn't look the best, but i want it and it should be enough. Whatever. I think if you want to go shorter on your beard, go for it! Enjoy! Don't worry about the double chin thing hahaha we are not perfects and we should not pretend we are. If you don't like it, let it grow!

Interestingly enough, I very recently trimmed my beard to 6 mm, and although at that length I am still fully bearded, my chin looks too small for my liking. I am therefore going to grow it back to 10 mm, and from now on that will be the absolute shortest that I will trim my beard. At that length my chin looks much more prominent. Its amazing what a difference just 4 mm can make. You won't know what really works for you until you experiment.

Same here man. Without beard I look like a balloon. For me the acceptable length start at the one month mark.

The same thing applies to a mustache. Before puberty I obviously had no mustache and I looked quite okay. However, after entering puberty and gaining a mustache I soon discovered that if I shaved it off it made me look like a total idiot. I have never shaved my mustache more than twice in my entire life. I am beginning to feel the same way about the beard, I don't ever want to be beardless!

I learned this lesson recently too. I'll do a 6mm and I'm like "holy crap...regret". Probably a little longer is better.

I have the same chin issue, Greg. No matter how skinny I get it's still just going to be there. Whenever I shave my entire beard off I feel so fugly for weeks/months until it grows out to the point you mentioned.

I had a double chin despite being very thin overall. I hated it and felt I needed a fuller beard to look good, even though I wanted to suit clean shaven as well. I like different options. Ended up getting fat dissolving treatment on the double chin. which did actually help reduce it a lot. Downside is that it left a small bald patch at the injection site that still hasn't regrown 20 months on. It's so annoying.

Thanks for the great advice Greg, I'll strictly follow it, no more trimming my beard short! As a matter of fact, I'm making it grow by sheer will as I write this comment ! 😉 I'm about 5 months short of my 59th trip around our star, and I had already decided to have a full abundant stache, beard and fairly abundantly long hair that is nature tinted in more salt then pepper. I have been genetically gifted by both my parents and look as though I'm in my early 40's, been into bodybuilding since I was 14, so I'm really looking forward to my big 60th next year being healthy and looking good, or so I'm told! 😄 A big thanks to you and all those at Beardbrand, blessings, take care.

Greg- awesome video! Personally, the short beard really accentuates the male square jaw the best. My beard resembles Al Pacino's beard in the movie "Carlito's Way". BtW: Is this called the short box beard?

YES...but only if you have a square jaw! The likes of Rege Jean Page or Chris Pine start out with great firm jaws, and a short beard actually flatters them best.

As a round faced man, I had to do this with my beard in order to look my best. It's curly naturally, so its easy to shape. The front end is an inch or so past the tip of my chin with a straight cut down the shelf to my neck. My lower beard line at the back stops a fingersbredth away from the top of my adams apple. I trim the front flat to make a sort of wedge shape to sharpen my "jawline" Now if only I could get the patches at the corners and sideburn areas, great as my beard is now, that would be magnificent. I got time though. And I still have room to grow some beard on my cheeks too.

Hello Greg, I know it is a very Personal thing, but would you maybe talk a bit about how your underbite was fixed? I have one myself . I was already in treatment, but then stopped it. The braces hurt too much. I thought it doesn't bother me anyway. However, I then noticed that you would have to saw and move the jawbone if you are too old for the braces correction. At the moment, as I said, the underbite doesn't really bother me. But I'm thinking about how it will be in the future. I would be really grateful if you could explain to me how the correction went for you. What exactly was done. Best regards!

When men get older they get the hated Turkey Gobbler under the chin. A beard works wonders for hiding it. That is why it is so important for older men to work out doing resistance exercises with weights or bodyweight routines 2 to 4 times per week to stay fit. Sacopenia is also a huge problem for men as they get older. Older men need to make sure they are getting more protein in their diet daily. 1 gram per pound of bodyweight is a good recommendation.

2-3 month with a shaped trim after and you should be about there, will look good 😀👍 Myself, I have an 8" (from chin) goatie and no plans to cut it but I'm tempted to cut my 2" stash tails off. I have options to keep them under control etc but getting tired of eating them with my food 😆

Two most unflattering beard mistakes in my opinion: Very sharply-defined shaved cheek lines too low down on the face, and also too high of a shaved neck line (like Greg says in the video).

The pain leading up to the surgery was awful, and the first three weeks after the procedure was more difficult that I was planning for, but its gotten easier with each passing week. My surgeon said that the C2-7 are the ones that are more easy to recover from since they cut from the front and dont go through major muscles. Anything below the C7 increases recovery time 5-10 fold. Good luck to you
