If you want to experience a unique atmosphere, Manchester City probably isn't the best choice.

LA Galaxy fan here....I got interested in Boca when the Schelotto brothers and their coaching staff came to coach Galaxy after copa libertadores. Sadly, Galaxy was already a bad team, minus Zlatan, and the front office was horrible. Now you made me want to witness a Boca Jrs game. Cheers!!!

You should do the same in River Plate stadium the atmosphere is better there because the stadium is bigger and you can see more than 80.000 persons singing at the same time. Compare for yourself, also the pitch looks like a European one.

That Gallardo statue was erected (pun 110% intended) a few months ago and it sparked a FIERCE controversy about its quality and (let's say) "ballsy" attributes. Last thing I remember is that they promised to redo the whole thing, but at this point I don't know if they will. I think the current one has its own kitsch charm. Glad to know you had a good time around! Next time you should come see a match at the Monumental, you know, the best of both sides :)

The sculptor tried to literally pass it as her intention to portrait the guy as ballsy, comparing it to the Charging Bull statue on Wall Street. Definitely a long shot, but we do use the "having balls" expression a lot in here, so it kinda tracks.

I was in La Boca during the Superclasico but had to watch it in a bar on the streets. First Superclasico I saw there and it was the best choice I could have made. Went to see it way over 30 years ago....in 1989 ......on a Wednesday night in September....game had been rescheduled...completely buzzed....absolutely volatile and dangerous...nowhere close to the colourful, family affair you see now....Boca won 1-0. Went to the Monumental the weekend after to see River against San Lorenzo.... 1-0 again. .....totally different experience, almost sedate by comparison

You can still get that similar atmosphere and experience today going to el popular area of the stadium, or following teams like Chacarita, Chicago, Racing, Independiente, Newells etc etc or going to El Torneo del Verano. I went to a lot of games in BsAs end of 90s also. People think going to "smaller" teams in BsAs will be less intensity but that's not the case.
