"Experiencing Joe Rogan, Biggest Career Mistake, & Fast Food Six Pack." Riley Gaines | The Spillover

You think you know Riley Gaines’ story, but you’d be wrong. Alex doesn’t hold back as she asks Riley point-blank about any and all criticism she has endured since she quit swimming and entered the conservative media space, including her friendship with Caitlyn Jenner, the controversial conservative calendar, and competing against Lia Thomas. Riley also shares the story of how she met her husband, why she may not ever swim again, and details on her controversial fast food diet, Alex dives deep into her story making this Riley’s most vulnerable and juicy interview yet.

Appreciate so much what Riley is doing and this conversation. Was surprised she did the calendar but we all are learning and growing. Also, you can easily get extra calories from healthy foods: nuts, seeds, avocado, beans, dried fruits and not have to rely on ultra processed “bad” foods. Praying for both Alex and Riley since they’re out there on the front lines.

I also DIYed my own wedding, thrifted my wedding gown, made my husband buy my wedding ring on Etsy for $60, did my own make up and hair, did a potluck style reception where the few family and friends we invited each brought something! I don’t meet or hear about many women who are also that low maintenance. Love finding a kindred spirit! 😄

We don't love Taylor or obsess aka IDOLIZE her because Philippians 4:8 AMP [8] Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]. Taylor doesn't represent anything that glorifies God.. infact she supports, endorses and encourages things God truly hates. Once you realize that it's easy to just listen to someone else. I use to really like Taylor but as a 34 year old mom of 2, other than her great work ethic , I don't find her to be someone I'd want my girls following. We are called not to have idols and clearly what's happening with Taylor is Idolization.

I've been following Riley's story since day one, but it wasn't until this interview that it sank in what it really means when she tied with Thompson...what an amazing feat of athleticism on Riley's part. I'm so sorry that isn't what was highlighted. A biological man and a biological woman competed, and they tied 😮 Feminist everywhere should have been shouting Riley's name from the rooftops. I hope history corrects the mistakes of that day.

I would bet so much money that working out alone is SO much more beneficial than simply switching organic or cutting out seed oils. People have become delulu thinking they’re making a HUGE shift for their health just by switching to organic and cutting seed oils and junk foods. Working out, however, releases stress. Specifically, lifting weights or resistance training, decreases osteoporosis, increases metabolic rate, makes you stronger, and not to mention how great it is for your heart. Simply switching foods doesn’t increase bone strength or make you stronger. Working out and eating some seed oils in your diet is FAR MORE effective for your health than not working out at all but “eating the right things.”

I CANNOT IMAGINE having so much uninterrupted time for myself and so much energy at the end of the day to go through that routine. I'm so exhausted by the time the kids are asleep and the nighttime chores are done that it takes all my adult willpower to brush my teeth and wipe my makeup off. Extra win if I manage to get some face lotion on myself.

I totally understand! I'm a mom of 4 (ages 3 months, 2 yrs, 7 yrs and 9 yrs) and I homeschool. It's a true blessing but OMG I am exhausted and hardly have time to take care of myself or even eat. I'm up thru the night with the baby, breastfeeding, juggling a toddler, potty training, teaching the older kids on their respective grade levels, cooking and cleaning. My husband helps when he can BUT he works long hours.. and also in our society he wasn't raised to do chores or cook. He is a fantastic daddy. He has stepped up a lot in the chores department. Marriage has taught him a lot about being an equal partner, because he is finally seeing that I don't get to clock out of work like he does.. I don't get sick days.... He simply wasn't raised to even think of those things. His parents have a bad marriage BUT my husband is making true efforts to be more considerate and conscientious because he does love me and he does want a strong marriage. There are definite days where I have to ask for help and remind him and he truly is apologetic ( for example he might respond like this "oh I'm so sorry. You're right I have been on my phone a lot today. How can I help?"). While he is truly trying to be a leader and a man, instead of the common "man child", I am still very tired daily. I'm basically training him to be an adult 😅 the key is to do it in a loving and respectful manner ❤ so he doesn't feel disrespected. I have faith that God is doing a good work in my husband as He is also doing a good work in me. I used to bark and get mad. But I've learned with God's grace to honor my husband and meet him where he is. Most men truly are so willing to step up but many times they don't know how because they weren't taught by their parents. I know this is just a season of life. My little ones will eventually be responsible children. The older ones are already learning to cook and how to clean. Soon all hands will be on deck and the household responsibilities will be shared with the children as well as myself and my husband. One day I will get to sleep thru the night and shower uninterrupted. One day I will get some time to read a book or enjoy a hobby. One day family vacations won't feel like work. This is a season. I try not to get discouraged, but to see the blessing in the struggle.

I get where her heart is, trying to fund her cause, but that's definitely not the primary goal. We've got too much of a porn problem (not that this calendar is outright porn, but again, it's to make men stumble), we definitely need to not make lust calendars even if it's under the name "conservatism."

Lol could you imagine changing your music tastes to get a man? What an absolutely ludicrous thing to say

@@cait2538 I’m not saying she can’t like the music, maybe just don’t lean into being a “Swiftie” so hard. It comes across as unhinged to the majority of the population.

If Riley Gaines wants to know the truth behind who is responsible for making the decisions about her and Lia Thomas's race, talk to a conspiracy theorist. They will help it make sense to you.

Alex, would encourage you to replace each time you turn to listen to Swift, to instead fill your head with Christian content. Whether that is music, or turning on a sermon. Do a video on your own personal growth when filling your leisure with God instead of secular. Started this many months ago, and now it's weird to listen to other music. A step further is replacing social media time with reading books or watching an educational podcast, etc. It's been a year and it's opened up my brain, new friendships, etc. Profound shift in thinking. Shift, don't Swift!

I’m a Christian and not a big swift fan. But I don’t think Christians can’t listen to Taylor Swift or secular music. And part of her JOB is to be on social media. If you have been around long enough you know she READS all the time. I don’t know how much she is in the world.

Hot take: Riley Gaines has kinda become a dead horse. Her message is important but she appears so much in conservative media that I’m kinda bored of seeing her now.

I get the oversaturation argument, but she is the biggest advocate for keeping women's sports for women only, especially since she experienced the injustice firsthand, but as long as men and boys are stealing victories from women and girls in sports, the horse is still alive and kicking. 🐎

I follow conservative accounts and this is the first time I’ve taken time to watch her story/interview. So she isn’t a dead horse to us all 😅

Agree I basically have unfollowed the Facebook group because of the cult in there. How are we going to talk about Christ and yet Idolize a 35 year old single woman that sings about hooking up and encourages abortion and alphabet soup sexual preferences. As a fellow Christian woman I'm going to continue to point out this contradiction and encourage these women to consider this. I'd almost say being obsessed with an artist like this is more expected from a 20 year old.
