Experience the ultimate adventure: 9-day Alaska Cruise on the Norwegian Spirit

Location: Seattle, Washington, North Pacific Ocean

We finally get onboard the Norwegian Spirit for our 9 day Alaska Cruise! We start off my checking out our balcony cabin. This ship was recently refurbished in 2022, so all the rooms are beautiful and very modern. We actually bid on a room upgrade (from an inside room) and got a cheap upgrade for a balcony cabin. To book the cabin would have been way more expensive, so this is a good way to potentially get one for cheap. Then it’s time for lunch at The Local, which is the 24 hour dining area. We always enjoy the sweet chili chicken wings and their burgers and sandwiches. Prior to sailing, we have our mandatory muster, drill. Then, we head to the Spinnaker Observation lounge for sail away to enjoy a drink and views of Seattle fading away. We head back to the Local to watch some football and enjoy a late night dinner at the buffet. We have always enjoyed the food on Norwegian and feel like they have great options at the buffet.
We start off our sea day by sleeping in! We get up fairly late and end up grabbing an early lunch at the buffet. Again, they have so many delicious options to enjoy. It’s time to explore the ship some more. We check out the speciality Italian restaurant, Onda by Scarpetta. It’s beautiful and we really love the aesthetics and layout. I decide to check out the Pulse fitness center to work off all this food we’ve been enjoying. And finally, we relax some more at the Spice H2O adult only area, where we find an empty hot tub to soak in. After getting ready, we head out for dinner at the Windows main dining room. We get seated and check out the menu. Don’t forget that you can order whatever you want and however many items that you like. For appetizers, we enjoy some Thai spring rolls, smoked salmon tartare, and a Cobb salad. Entrees consist of pad Thai, parmesan crusted pork chop and roast beef. All the food is delicious and cooked perfectly. The portion size is also generous! We finish up with some dessert: cherries jubilee and apple strudel. After leaving the dining full stuffed, we listen to some music at Henry’s pub and then check out the late night, adults only comedy show at The Social.
It was a great time during our sea day, but we’re ready to step foot in Alaska at our first port. This’ll be our next video, so you better hit that subscribe button to get alerted when it’s out. Please don’t forget to like this video. Thanks for watching.

Hi! We’re Chris and Tracy and we love to #travel. Unfortunately, we both have full time jobs working in healthcare which require us to have a home base, instead of the digital nomad life that we envy. However, this lifestyle has allowed us to learn the ins and outs of planning #vacations. When we first met, we were very young and enjoyed some domestic travel. When we got married, we decided to go onto our first #international trip together. Let’s just say, Tracy caught a bad case of the travel bug. So it was our mission to go everywhere!
We try to plan 3-4 “big” trips a year. In total, we have been to 64 countries together (Chris is at 75 total himself). The biggest thing that we have taken away from this is how to be savvy while traveling. At first, we took a lot of cruises because they were easy. However, we met some new friends on a cruise who told us to come visit them in Malaysia and that was our first trip that we planned all on our own. Let’s say it was a great trip but we made a few mistakes, like severely overpaying for our taxi in Bali. However, we have used everything as a learning experience. We really love the logistics of planning trips and getting the best deals and experiences. And it would be selfish to keep this knowledge to ourselves!
We have lots of friends and family come to us for advice or helping planning. So why not expand our audience and help everyone out! Our motto in life is champagne taste on a beer budget, or more correctly, a 5 star hotel taste for a hostel price.
