You will get used to a warm Christmas. I still have Turkey and i still make Christmas pudding. We now have grandkids and they love my Christmas because it's so different to the Aussie grandparents. I still make it huge even in 40c heat. Yes you get a cheaper dog registration in Victoria too. Loving the dog.

Thank you for the video and pleased you are surviving the weather. It is not that common for us to have this many storms in such a short time period so you have had quite the introduction to a Queensland summer. Even us natives have been describing the weather as “wild”. I hope it improves over the next couple of months. With regard to your next house, yes a pool or spa would be useful and a double garage, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Most summers we use the aircon only spasmodically on those really humid days and nights but we have the ceiling fans operating almost all the time. We have them in every room apart from the bathrooms and laundry with two in our large living area. Our house is built to catch the prevailing breezes with lots of French doors and verandahs and large windows but not all houses are. Also, ask about ceiling insulation and avoid houses with large western facing windows. Solar panels are very helpful with both air con and pool running costs. Another tip is to try to find a house where the outdoor undercover area is on the north and preferably shaded from the west/south west - this is best in both summer and winter. Best of luck with your house search as I seem to have added to your list of must haves! Do have a Happy New Year!

Really enjoying your videos as someone who is moving to Australia this year they are super helpful! One tip/comment, on your videos the audio volume from you guys to cut scenes/background music is hugely different. Goes from normal volume to really loud 😅

Summers in Queensland are not only hot, they are HUMID and WET as it is a tropical to sub-tropical climate. So really the north only has two seasons -- the hot wet summer and the warm, dry winter. Down south in Victoria and Tasmania, which have temperate climates, there is no humidity and wetness in summer with the heat ie. there are generally dry summers. 'Grey Nomads' are retired people who move from the southern states to north in the southern winter (warm and dry) and back to the southern states for the southern summer (hot and dry with relief of cooler days) to get the best of weather.
