If you're not running nods, I'd probably just get a nicer airsoft helmet

I have an Emerson helmet, it's the exact shape of that one, it still has the same bike foam on the inside, but the neck strap has been upgraded, well scraped lol they now have a retention system and it is very comfortable. I wear mine on full day skirmishes and I have no problems. It stays solid on my head, no sliding. They have definately improved.

I wear a bump helmet when I play ice hockey. First, I put my helmet on. Then, I "bump" anyone who gets in my way!

There are other cheap “unbranded” helmets with a retention system inside. There are even copies of the Team Wendy (gen 2 and gen 3) with some retention system. I got a FAST copy and it has a retention system that actually works, it’s reasonably comfortable.

It's actually amazing just how effective the harness system, especially the tightening feature, has been for headwear. Completely game changing tbh. Changing from the mk VI to the VII was just so much more comfortable and don't get me started on how bad the old helmets were when you went prone, forever slipping forward. Did not like, often just ended up wearing a peaked beanie hat underneath my old mk VI just so it didn't slip forward... And because user comfort was definitely not considered with the old helmets.

I can't afford a ballistic helmet.. i dont support Team Wendy due to there political selection but my question is.. is it even worth getting a bump/pj helmet just for head protection and nods?

Fun fact: Peltor is originally a Swedish company. Later it was purchased by the American Company 3M. Peltor ear muffs are very well known here in Finland too. I also have a pair of Peltor ballistic eye protection shades which I purchased from the Finnish Police Academy's ordinance shop years ago. I still wear them all the time. Superb quality!

The retention system on the Team Wendy is awesome, this lid is really comfortable to wear.

If I may add to this.. with the helmets that move around a lot, a little adhesive and some cloth covered foam inserts can dramatically help. That's why ach's differ in size only with foam inserts, the helmets are all the same size... The padding changes

Bump helmets are basically tacticool bike helmets.

I love my OpsCore bump. Retention system is comfortable af imho. I mainly use it for skydiving now. The nods mount can take a GoPro on the front and it’s so much lighter lol. I had to specifically search for a “pocket system” that uses bungee cord under the cover so I can utilize an audible altimeter. Has served me well for 8 years now!
