Ok, simple explanation of why the chilean army has such a strong prussian/german aesthetic. After Chile won the war of the pacific against peru and bolivia, the chilean government was like: yeah, we won the war, but we could've done way better and win the war faster....so they tought ¿which country has the best military in the world at the moment? Germany! So they paid the prussian general Emil Körner to come and modernize the chilean army. That's why the chilean army adopted things like the pickelhaube and later the stahlhelm.

About the lasers, Drew. The weren't trying to blow up the ship with the laser and they didn't think they were going light it afire either. It's actually more messed up than that because they were actually trying to blind the crew of the ship they were on, or was it a boat like a fishing boat or something?? Either way, I think they actually managed to blind some of the crew members. Interestingly, around the same time that happened there were, allegedly Chinese, space lasers that were seen over Hawaii. If they were actually Chinese though is something we won't ever know for certain.

Can we all appreciate drew for learning Spanish and surprising with that intro
