Prayers for anyone cruising during the hurricane

I have a condo in Fort Myers. I was down there one month after Ian, there were boats in the trees, sailing boats on roofs, huge shrimp, boats stacked against each other like tinker toys. That was a category 4, these cat fours are no joke!

Yeah, have to keep the local people/businesses in mind and give them time to recover.

Cruising should be secondary, safety is number one! Then helping locals to recover and rebuild so that cruisers & other visitors can come back.

It's a shame some ports will be shut down and itineraries changed however we should pray for the people affected. It must be horrible ⚓️

I agee with Don, Cruise ship is the safest place because they have time to steer totally around any storm vs fixed objects in its path

I have a friend going on a Carnival cruise tomorrow (Thursday) leaving NO and going to Cozumel. According to him, he hasn't heard a peep out of Carnival. He's assuming he isn't going there.

Praying for everyone in the paths way. I pray they are safe. I know tourists the ones who can afford it are paying 1500 for hotels. I’m watching lives from people in Jamaica. Heartbreaking. 💔

What a devastating hurricane this has turned out to be especially for those eastern Caribbean Islands. Some islands look like everything's wiped out. So sad. Our prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy. Thanks, Don, for your view on it all.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by the hurricane

Prayers to all affected and in it's path of the hurricane. Not a good start for the hurricane season. Another unusual event occuring is the Riley fire which has closed Denali Park. They haven't had a fire there in over 100 years. We are cruising on our way to Whittier and expect to stay Denali next week. Everyone is scrambling to see whether our plans have to change. I always trust the cruise lines to keep us save. We may not get to do what was planned but we are safe to try again another time.

Years ago I was in a hurricane in DR and the hotel was real great of holding meetings and letting us know what to do, luckily where I was didn't have much damage

We cruised right after Maria in 2017. We went out of Puerto Rico, where they didn’t have electricity or water on most of the island. Over half of the ship were Puerto Ricans escaping the conditions of the island. They had a blast. We did a b2b because it was so cheap. The itinerary changed a lot, but we booked last minute so we didn’t care where we went. People were so apprehensive that we were there supporting their businesses when they needed it the most.

I don't know why any sane person would want to go to any port or get stuck in severe weather like a hurricane. It might be disappointing not being able to go to some of the ports where you wanted to go but staying safe should be the main goal. I guess that it all depends on how much damage is done to the port and surrounding areas that might keep the tourism at bay.

It will take a very long time for recovery for the islands, that were damaged. Keep them in your prayers.

People need to understand the cruise ships only do what is best for everyone.

We were in Cozumel months after the hurricane that stalled there. The pier was badly damaged so we had to tender. When they went to pull up the anchor, they had a really hard time freeing it from the cement rubble debris from the ruined pier. We were delayed for a while leaving as they kept trying to shake it off the anchor.

We live in Hawaii. Tropical storms are unpredictable. Hotels here put guests in the under ground basements. And counties have shelters.
