Exonerated Major Fred Galvin | Mike Ritland Podcast Episode 116

Major Fred Galvin is a retired Marine Corps Major who served as an enlisted Marine and officer for over 26 years. He served on multiple combat deployments in Afghanistan, including where he commanded the Marine Corps’ first Special Operations Task Force. He's also been painted as the "posterboy for the largest mass murder in U.S. Military History." Since then, he's fought to exonerate the men who volunteered to lay down their lives for their country and restore their reputations, even at the cost of his own career. So how did he do it? What happened that day? And most importantly - who's telling the truth? Fortunately for Mike, Fred's got the answers.

    This was another good one. I’m glad they made it through the corruption. It saddens me though at how corrupt pretty much every organization is. Especially our military. We desperately need change. Government from top to bottom needs cleaning. Our world is in a mess. Thank you for having the courage to bring the truth to light.

    The sad thing isn't that it happened to them (those who have been in from 1991-2010 should know how common professional jealousy is), but that it took so long for the truth to be exposed. Freaky Fred never stopped trying to get the actuality of this out. Good on him and the solid men there.

    I was an instructor at MAWTS-1 from 2004 to 2007. Worked a lot with Major Greg Poland and a Capt. in Ground Combat Dpt. "Iron Mike" something? I cant remember his last name. But he got promoted to Major and went to help stand up MARSOC around 2005. I spent many weeks out in the Choc mts, Nyland, (even at Camp Billy Machen) and all the different LZ's Yodaville, Slab City, Condor, etc..... It was while I was at MAWTS-1 that I finally was able to really grasp the entire big picture of combined arms, joint operations, and how the MAGTF works.... Col Hondo Fox was the CO while I was there.... Also during that time was when they stopped CAX and started Mojave Viper and Desert Talon. On another note all the shit that CID, NCIS, along with Sr Officers and politicians have done and continue to do crucify Military members that were doing the job is disgusting. I Retired in 2012 and it couldn't come fast enough, after about 2008 it started getting crazy......... Semper FI!

    This behavior must be attacked with every tool available to America’s warriors. This trend is more toxic that any outside enemy we will face as a nation. As a president once said we will not be destroyed from an outside entity but from within. This garbage backstabbing behavior is a cancer that will ruin the trust warriors must have in their peers and supervisors. I cannot fathom risking my life working with or for self serving trash like the people described in this podcast. Great information and his story was equally compelling on Andy’s podcast. Thx Mike

    What I learned from 16-years in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa is war has nothing to do with killing bad guys, war is a business!

  • @robbyrobinson4500
    @robbyrobinson4500 Жыл бұрын

    The backstabbing that is learning and basically tought in military is pathetic. I worked oilfield with 8 different guys back in 2010. They were all 25-28yrs old and served in Iraq and Afghanistan. All received ptsd checks and all one on one talked about killing the enemies. So basically every military guy I knew were front line guys. The way everyone of them tried to manipulate boss's in order to get ahead was pathetic. They would talk shit on each other every chance they had. It was so funny how spineless they were in order to get ahead. I am only speaking about the guys I know, not entire military. All made over 150k a year and bragged about getting free money from govt. As time went on it started to come out what their jobs in military actually were. Let's just say from what we learned only one or possibly two ever fired a gun. The rest of us long term oilfield guys just sat back laughing at them. Literally every day multiple of them were our entertainment. Eventually we started writing down everything they told on each other, we called em all out till most had to quit because there was no way they could show their face after we spread word thought the whole company. The reason I tell you this is because they used to pull the whole thing about they were like brothers and we would not get it, on and on and on. In the end they all cut their own throats against each other to get above the other. Brothers, if military makes you brothers, I don't want any brothers. Lol, it has taken me a long time to not think majority of our forces are like them.

    I tell you what man……between this story, the shit Mattis pulled while SECDEF, and that nauseating story about Eddie Gallagher, never MIND all the woke bullshit going on……you couldn’t pay me enough to go into the military today. Which was always a huge regret of mine. The service used to be a HUGE point of honor for families. Gallagher would still be sitting in jail if it wasn’t for Trump. The corrupt brass in our military has made our country, terrifyingly weak. If we get the “red tsunami’ the (accurate) polls are showing, the GOP has an *EPIC*, not to mention historic, obligation to hold this corrupt filth responsible. I’d hate to think of what will happen if the GOP fails us again, after that past 6yrs.

Not just their network the attempt at furthering their career with unsafe acts While roads were black we assumed this camp was so hard up for more artillery rounds we would risk the convoy out there to get them resupplied… yeah no our company commander wanted to look good for the BDOC commander so they could go enjoy a fuckin field artillery competition In the middle of the fuckin GWOT!!! I thought Mike did such a great job of bluntly asking, more than once 'OK, but can you explain precisely why these high-ups went after you, & why they went after you so damn hard??' I didn't hear Fred (we're buds, so I call him Fred) give a straight forward answer...he made it clear that he was a hard charger, & 'they' didn't like that, but really? THAT's it?? THAT's the "why" for accusations this egregious & this detailed??? I'm re-listening to that part, & yes, that's what Major Fred is saying...no more & no less than that, so...alright, that's it. When I think more about what he said, about how the high-ups really really really don't like it when anyone goes against command, I'm getting closer to being able to intellectually believe that "they" went after Fred so hard, so publicly hard...with details that they had to understand would cause all sorts of investigative journalists to tear these 'facts' apart, & finally get at the actual truth, all because they didn't like him. So odd that this actually happened/is happening. To be crystal clear, what I'm struggling with are the accusations...anyone involved in a setup like this would certainly understand the attention it would draw, from outside the Military, & that whatever the truth is, it would eventually be found...so why/how is such a decision made to go at it this way, when it leaves them wide open like this? It just doesn't add up.

    Glad this guy was acquitted but he needs to be arrested on how he answers questions because he’s a psycho. How did he turn a lighting round into a half hour?

    I can’t be alone in thinking there are valid ways a general’s advice could be genuinely useful to a war machines producer. I respect this guy deeply but I feel like he’s got some unresolved anger clouding his judgment in certain areas. I know I surely would. But I want the military to be advising those companies. Especially generals who were grunt types instead of pure nerds. It will help them make things useful to grunts instead of stuff that gets people killed because it takes pure nerds to use it.

    The problem is they start lobbying and politicking for these companies, or organization/groups, before they leave the service. They use their rank to trade favours and secure a job after. It is also often why they get that rank, after doing favors for those above. It can be a fine line sometimes but anyone paying attention can see the type, and the extent, of corruption that these traitor's are perpetrating.
