Exodus of Hindu Kashmiri Pandits from Srinagar valley
Last year Kashmir had a population of one lakh forty thousand (1,40,000) Hindus. In the last 6 months, more than one lakh Hindus have fled their homes with just their clothes on their backs. Several pockets of Hindu population have become a ghost town.
There were numerous pressures that forced these Hindus to leave.
Children had no schools to go to, colleges had closed, weeks of curfew had converted homes into prisons often without electricity, water and food. But most of all, it was the tension of being a minority in an increasingly fanatical atmosphere where the very air they breathed was laid with violence and fear.
They had to leave secured jobs, sometimes of 20 years. Established business running for generations and even the properties and orchards for a blank certain future with marginal help from the government.
Why they asked, should we be refugees in our own country?

Its not just hindus fighting back. We as a secular nation call kashmir as an integral part of the country. While we say that, we are completely showing a blind eye when the governments have mismanaged the situation over the years. Why should we let these provoked youth to raise slogans for independent kashmir? What is the administration doing? Why should the army handover the body of Burhan Wani to his family. That day there was a huge procession in the streets and people were throwing rocks at the police. Police should be given more rights in the state.. Any upraise should be strictly dealt with. Bodies of dead terrorists should be disposed off in unknown locations under military supervision. Local government should be micro management by central government... Take daily updates of events in the state... This is purely because of negligence by governments over the years and we have got ourselves into this situation because of corrupt bureaucracy.

Yes this is shameful. I admit more and more Muslims should condemn this exodus. I condemn this totally. But do you see how the people in this comment section are blaming all the Muslims living in the world. They are abusing Islam. Abusing our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Is there a place for a Muslim commenter here who can openly condemn and not get abused in return? The exodus of Hindus from Kashmir could have been prevented if all the Kashmiri Muslims took out processions in their support and assured them that they are together. But most of them only got the hatred in return of their pleas and cries and had to leave.

I understand the agitation of the people in the comment section. I understand their emotions have been hurt and the trust have been broken over the years. Lack of accountability and acknowledgement from Muslims have added fuel to the fire. But the reason why you see less Muslims here condemning this exodus and massacre is how they're treated in return. For reference, you can see those who support Palestinian Muslims or rohingya Muslims do not abuse Judaism or Buddhism in general.

I live in najafgarh which is situated between Delhi and haryana border. Here there is a colony of Kashmir pandits known as Kashmiri colony. They are the same people who came here after this incident. And belive me as we are haryanvis, we have so much aggression but these pandits are so humble and down to earth. Their colony is so peaceful and clean. They are living a healthy life here. And one of them is my best friend Rohinesh Sharma. Amazing person he is. When article 370 was abolished he was so happy with it. EDIT - bhai kaiyo ko meri ye baate bhi buri lag rahi h? He just said he wants Muslims to protest against CAA and after a few days riots broke in Delhi (pogrom against Muslims). A lot of people think that kashmir exodus is only 20 years old but in fact it was started more than 500 years ago by 7th Muslim ruler of kashmir Sikander Butkishan,He was most cruel muslim leader, 1000 years ago there were NIL Muslims in Kashmir. The word Kashmir is an ancient Sanskrit word which literally means Land of Kashyap Rishi. Few years ago, History Channel showed a frozen pass in the Himalayas , where thousands of civilian men , women and children with no weapons on them lay dead huddled together in a small area. Their bodies were intact due to the cold and they appeared frozen in time, almost in a deep sleep, ready to get up after a good rest. The commentator said that it appears that these people died about 500 years ago, and they had no dang clue how this happened.These were the frozen bodies of Kashmiri Pandits who were persecuted during the rule of Sikandar Butshikan 600 years ago. He was an ethnic cleanser who was the first to be guilty of a holocaust. It took his soldiers 13 months to destroy the glorious 3100 year old Marthanda Sun Temple of Kashmir--such was its amazing strength with huge interlocking stones.. I would like you to go to Google EARTH and zoom in on the site of The Martanda temple (coordinates Lat 33°44′44″N Long 75°13′13″E) nine kilometres east-north-east of Anantnag district headquarters.This cruel Muslim king authorised his soldiers to rape dead Hindu women who took poison to escape capture. Came here after watching Kashmir files movie, really heartbreaking to see such things happened to our people and pundits in Kashmir.. Im a Christian, but when our people are being suffered, I don't see any religion, i support them and I stand with them if I had any chance, we all should support.

So you're aware about the situation of Bengali Hindus in shilong more than North Easterners. In shilong, few Insurgent do operate in the jungles who see non Tribals as invaders of their tribal land. And non tribal includes anyone who's not indegenious of north east India. This includes both Christian, Muslims or Hindus. Btw this was the scenario of 90s. Today shilong is Majorily a literate State. And things are much better there. And me as Bengali Hindu from West Bengal who's many relatives lives in shilong , I suppose myself to answer this propaganda more than you. Btw What happened to tripura. Today's tripura is entirely a Bengali majority region that too Bangladeshi Bengali. Be it Hindu Bangladeshi but they're much different than us. Today indegenious tribes of tripura are minority. Huge influx of Bangladeshis are there in north east India and Majority of them happens to be Hindus. And btw meghalaya is now under BJP's rule and BJP themselves supported that this huge Population influx will be stopped. As a hindu Who lived there, I beg you to Stop this ugly propaganda against my loving north eaaterner brothers. Visit there once, you'll Sense the beauty by your own
