I think Hear Me Out is a very smart and deliberate choice as a 2nd pre-release. It has the 70’s funk and groove elements that we can find in a lot of Exo songs, it also has that EXO-SC, Mac Miller, Bruno Mars vibe, the type of stuff I think the guys actually like listening to… but it still sounds fresh, light and modern for the summer. I don’t expect and I don’t want every song to be insane crazy groundbreaking in production and song structure, because in real life I don’t drink wine and chill with my friends to Mama or El Dorado. All their title tracks are masterpieces for showing off their immense talent, and they’re extremely entertaining for when I’m in that mood to binge watch and be entertained, but I’m never playing Monster or Obsession when I’m at the beach or going for an evening walk. EXO’s b sides are everything to me because they are literally the soundtrack to my life. They feel so personal and real - you can hear every single member and the melodies and harmonies are always beautiful. Hear Me Out seems simple in terms of musical production, but what’s refreshing is almost every member singing in low and relaxed tones, you can hear the texture in the voices! Not every song has to be a ChenBaekSoo sing off and I’m 100% sure I’ll be playing this all summer and all future summers

Please don't say chen baek soo as if they get treated on equal footing, the last time kyungsoo got to sing the climax of an exo title track was love me right in 2015, 8 years ago, he's been treated as less than a sub vocalist since tempo

@@Syllights​​⁠please relax, ask yourself why you are offended by the term chenbaeksoo… There’s really no reason to be. I am an exo ot9 bias but kyungsoo is my ult. And ultimately I trust in the members as artists - we know that as they grew older and more experienced, they have become much more involved in the songwriting and production aspects of their music. Perhaps you need to do a few more listens because Kyungsoo is in a lot of the harmonies and adlibs for this song, his background runs are so sexy in this, plus he is singing the final chorus. I love how the three choruses are melodically all the same, but you can feel the difference between Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Kyungsoo. Even just the simple way Kyungsoo sings gwaenchana mwo oettae is so distinctly Kyungsoo I am obsessed with it. I think one of the charms of this song is the atypical line distribution, especially the two rappers starting us off, and Suho sounding insanely sexy with that low tone verse and whole outro to himself, plus sweet Xiumie vocals getting much deserved time in the spotlight… it further proves the depth of talent that Exo has as a group - any member can take any position and sing any line and we would all be obsessed with it. Please relax and enjoy the song cos it just makes you feeeeel gooood

@@M-de-Valeand this is in a PERIODT!!! Kyungsoo’s adlibs and runs did a lot of magic for this track. Plus I feel like chenbaeksoo getting the spotlight in let me in and the others getting the spotlight in hear me out is already showing us that this album will be versatile. That all the members would probably be treated on an equal footing, like the might be songs some members might outshine others instead of the usual chenbaeksoo outshining everyone and I am here for it because I am ot9. It would be nice if we got an album like DFTF where everyone had a spotlight though, ngl🥹

@@Syllights Some of the most iconic, memorable parts in Love Shot are his like “where is love…” and “people come and people go”. But we’re even talking about a b-side here. He did that crazy harmonized belt with Chen in Wait, did the Killing part AND high note in Ooh la la la. He wasn’t around for obsession so idk what you want anyone to do about that. And then for DFTF, Paradise, No Matter and Just as Usual, he totally dominates, on top of that, he led the outro in Runaway. Not to mention Let me in where all three main vocalists barely had 1 sec difference in their line distribution. I seriously don’t know why y’all are so determined to be victims.

I can really groove with the vibe of this song. The smooth R&B was delicious. I loved Xiumin's vocals in this -- it really was nice. They looked like they really enjoyed making this video and song, which is everything to me. The idols go through a lot to achieve and excel in their career that this makes it worth it. I love to see people happy.

It's such a chill summer tune... Like it would fit right in a playlist with songs like Party by Beyonce and Coasting by Victoria Monet.

I love how summery it is. Like the song and mv the whole feel of it is summer. It’s just fun and i love how you can see they had fun. It’s a vibe. Like you said screams b side track . Can’t wait for the main mv tho im scared😂

I love Hear me out. It’s so refreshing yet at the same time it suddenly brought back memories of my high school days when I just couldn’t wait for summer vacation so I could just chill with my friends. Kind of made me want to look for my old Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker cds. EXO will always be my type ❤

Initially, I totally agreed with your assessment. But upon repeated listening to this song, the more that I love it.

I love how sexy and groovy this song is and I think the simplicity of it really let the pure, beautiful vocals shine. I cannot wait to hear the rest of this album.

i call this pre-release the calm before the storm 😄 the first one was kinda dark, melancholic while this is fresh and fun. both are sexy, 'tho, and the vocals do not disappoint. really anticipating the album to see how it all connects together. so far, we've heard 3 songs -- Bird, Let Me In and Hear Me Out. Can't wait for July 10th 😊 Thank you for this reaction!

I feel like I hear Chanyeol's hand in this composition. So groovy ❤

This is like an Exo SC ft Exo (special cameo D.O.). But the song still showcase a good vibe especially in a chill weather where you would drive around while letting the air breeze flow.

I love how chill it is and so easy to the ears that I can listen to it over and over without being too overwhelmed. It sounds like the music I vibe to outside of kpop. Kinda has an old school feel to it but still very modern. Although the lines of kpop and pop are getting blurred by the minute, I feel like its their least kpop sounding song with it being very laidback and simply a song to groove to. Its also very exo-sc coded which is probably the genre of music I typically listen to.

I love the chorus the most though and the pre-chorus too :)

I like the song. In this song I enjoyed Chanyeol & Xiumin vocals the most. I'm not a musician and could be very wrong but I felt like since this was a chill song some parts could've been better with just a little more power in the vocals.

Finally some honest reaction. I also didn’t like the beginning I didn’t like the way Sehun came in initially but I didn’t get bored after a minute like most songs recently. It had grown on me after 2 replays still dint like the beginning but I find myself humming to the tune regularly since yesterday, I mean I was humming the tune as I woke up this morning, will I be ready for July 10?🤷🏾‍♀️

I feel kinda sad for Sehun, because his rapping really isn’t that great. It also confuses me why he gets so many lines, because let’s be honest, I don’t think he can handle them live (and then Kyungsoo gets basically no lines in HMO smh). I really am not trying to hate, but this is just the truth. My favourite lines from Sehun is literally when he harmonises with Chen or even Xiumin. It’s a difficult issue to deal with, but I do think it is a bit unfair to the other members who just sound better and can actually sing the lines live. They could probably solve the issue with giving him more dance breaks and screen time, but Kai kinda comes in the way of that.

@@nouraouni2819 yes I kinda agree but also believe him having more likes builds his confidence. I mean he does have lines in SC. In HMO tho would have been nicer if someone else started the track maybe he and Chanyeol switch, but we all have to try different things and for a change he having more lines instead of few words is a nice change (I’m kyungsoo bias too). The issue also was there with Kai pre solo debut and like Micah mentioned in Let Me In, he’s been able to build his sound with more poise and confidence after success with his solo stuffs. I love the lad like I do all Exo members but I’ve never seen him as a dancer, their current lineup and with Kai absence Baekhyun is my next dancer to me (I prefer those who dance with groove than clear cut angles, eg Lay to Kai). As for live performances I believe he will be able to I mean he’s been performing for over 10 years and the beginning is his only line so I believe he’ll do well in that. Time will indeed tell but I’m all for everyone having opportunities and fair chances so in as much as I dint like it I appreciate the diversity.

I agree with some of what you and the comments are saying, but for me at the end of it all it gives Exo normal b-side to me. I acc really enjoyed hear me out and it was one of my favs off the album so I’m surprised tbh. Also I feel like people expected way too much of hear me out. At the end of the day it’s a b-side, it was just released before the album. It’s not supposed to be groundbreaking cuz that’s what the title track is there for.

As someone else said "I could clean the whole room to this song" 😅 That's such a specific bar, but I get it. Not particularly original, but fun. I'm here for Chanyeol singing, and D.O snacking! Still curious about this title track. I hope it's less vaguely Jamaican or reggaeton, and more chill afrobeat. I know Ay-Yo featured some Brazilian DJ production. Don't know if SM is reaching out to Africa, but they should. With EXO's top tier vocals? I MEAN.

I like the song, but i am not in love with it. I felt it could be more powerful in some parts?! Also not a fan of the blended vocals I don’t mean the harmonies tbh idk how to explain it lol like in their older songs every member is very distinct and clear and now I feel like they still are but kinda toned down and meshed together maybe it’s production ? I am not sure

Finally someone I can agree with. Usually any EXO B-side is top tier, you will be left speechless. But this is just meh, the verses are meh and the start of the chorus. I only like the post chorus melody "Oh babe hold me closelyy"
