EXO as a groups has an awesome concept. In Kpop, a lot of groups have concepts as a group and/or storylines that run throughout their music videos. EXO's concept is basically that they are aliens, they came from a world called EXO Planet, and they all have specific superpowers. Some of them include fire, force, teleportation, telekinesis, healing and light. In this comeback, they addressed a growing storyline where there are opposite doppelgängers of themselves called X-EXO who are bent on destroying earth. X-EXO have the more creepy/unnatural styling in the music video. You can see some scenes where the members look normal, this is regular EXO, and then some scenes where the same members have scars, contacts, or cool hairstyles and makeup and that is X-EXO. In the music video they're battling their clones, like the fire fight that the rapper (Chanyeol) was having with his double. And in the end, you see the neck-snapping move they did and it switches the scene from EXO to X-EXO, symbolizing that X-EXO has won and ultimately defeated the "good" EXO. Honestly it's just a cool ass video with a cool ass story.

YESSSS exo literally has top notch vocalists and songs omg literally all masterpieces. Groups like exo, nct, shinee have title tracks that are💯 So shinee are exo’s bigger bros, and exo & shinee are nct’s. Basically they all besties. There’s even a group that consists of a few of shinee, exo and nct in one, called SuperM.

Firstly, thank you for reacting to EXO. No one does it like EXO. Everything & anything they do whether on live stage or studio are masterful & of excellent quality. I suggest you check on their live performances - you'll find that this group is truly amazing. EXO is currently not active as a group due to conscription & they're sorely missed.

This 9-member band has a massive and diverse discography, the best, if not the very best in the K-Pop world. They slay any genre, but are kings of old-school RnB. When you're ready, check out their live performances. Nobody, but nobody does live stages like EXO! What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. Man, you are taking a risk saying you want EXO's stylist to have their way with you. They do a pretty good job with them now, but back in EXO's early days, specifically their Wolf era (2013), it was tragic...the stage outfits, the looks in the MV...all of it was wretched. The boys must have been so embarrassed. Thankfully, they must have fired those stylists or educated them or something. Great reaction. I had to listen to Obsession a few times before I loved it. Now it’s a favorite and I love the mv too. The singer with white hair, (Baekhyun) is in the 2016 historical kdrama “Moon lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo” It’s still a popular drama, loved by many fans.

This song is about a subsection of fans in Korea called sasaengs. These are the creepy stalker fans that literally track down their phone numbers, find out where they live or what hotel they’re staying in and camp outside of it. There have been cases of these sasaengs breaking into their hotel rooms and stealing their used clothing and belongings. They have no boundaries and will literally send letters of hatred to other members of the same group for being too friendly with “their” idol/bias and tell them to kts and stuff. It’s a huge problem bc the number of sasaengs are increasing as the years go by and it becomes more mainstream and more and more “fans” feel entitled to the idols’ personal lives and their being as a whole. They often see them as an object that they’ll marry someday or have some other grandiose delusion. This was a clapback to the sasaengs which is why they talk about being paranoid in the dark of their own rooms and the pre chorus shutting them and their entitled demands down with the “I don’t think so”. This song was literally revolutionary in kpop bc it was the first time idols and/or their group actually stood up to and called out sasaengs for their obsessive behavior as most companies make their idols pretend the whole thing isn’t happening despite literal attempts of idol kidnappings both in private and even on stage. Even now people pretend it isn’t a problem but it’s just getting worse. So yes the song bops but it’s also really dark lol. Love the reaction and love the channel

Johnny from NCT 127 was a trainee for a long time and actually trained with EXO and I believe may have supposed to debut in EXO but he didn't) or working together (ex. 4 members of NCT joined SuperM with 2 EXO members and Taemin of SHINee)

Understandably Obsession is a top notch video but this is the time to recommend *Lit by Lay* Lay is the only Chinese member of exo. That video will blow you away.

As you see the present six members Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun have made a group comeback before their leader Suho had to enlist which was July 14th 2020 following Baekhyun & Chanyeol enlistments sometime this year; CHEN recently enlisted on October 26 2020. The more I watch it, the concept and lyrics gives me lotto along with Monster era feels about a "Man's obsession with his lover" but in reverse especially in the beginning when the voice echo says "I want ya, I want ya”. After listening to the digital album, I was obsessed with it before it even came out and I couldn't wait; it's the title track of EXO's 6th album with the same name ‘OBSESSION’. *This song brings trap bass blend with synthwave & jazzy accapella influences similar to their 2018 track "Tempo" with a vocal refrain running throughout the song. Lyric-wise it comes as a warning toward an ex-lover or friend, corrupt media, especially SAESANGS and ANTIs to stay away avoiding entitlement which is a constant issue among the kpop community. The track was released with an MV that fits their album wide storyline as a whole, they are shown fighting Red Force clones of themselves (their innerselves) which don't seem to share the same superpowers as the members, let alone have the clones to respond back. The only three actually seen fighting are Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Sehun but the other three aren’t* #EXO #OBSESSION SUHO - Water (Leader) BAEKHYUN - Light [Sun] CHEN - Lightning CHANYEOL - Fire [Phoenix] KAI - Teleportation SEHUN - Wind (Youngest)

EXO and NCT are from the same entertainment company. SM Entertainment. EXO are NCT's senior group. EXO debuted in 2012, NCT in 2016. In Korean EXO is referred to by any younger groups/artist as 선배님 seonbaenim. Meaning in Korean refers to a far more experienced person within the same school, company, or group. In this case it's a company. It’s a combination of the word 선배 (seonbae) which means senior, and 님(nim), which is Mr. or Sir in English. It’s a Korean title usually used when one is talking in formal language.
