Exhaust & Whistles Galore, SR 34067 with The Waverley 07/07/24
SR 34067 Tangmere was the motive power today for the 1st Waverley railtour of the season from York to Carlisle and return over the Settle Carlisle line, we first see Tangmere with ten on and 47848 on the rear at Settle Junction then from the bridge up Lodge Lane followed with whistles in the distance from Settle Station, the return was seen at a lonely Birkett Common just after a heavy downpour had past over and thanks to the crew for the whistle at Birkett, thanks also to Steve for the lift and crack this morning and thanks for watching.

Superb Nige, the head on shot at Birkett with the sun and low cloud in the distance with the sun shinning after the rain was spot on, a very good days filming with loads clag, cheers 👍🎥🌝😎
Excellent demonstration of how the updraft from those Bulleid deflectors lifts the exhaust clear of the cab, so the driver can see ahead, while the softness of the exhaust itself, combined with the boxy cross-section of the loco let it hug the top of the train. Doing just enough. I've noticed that Bulleids with their multiple jet pipe don't lift the exhaust high, as other locos with single or double blast-pipes do.
Nige, Tangmere certainly living up to its "volcano" name tag on this day and nicely captured. Especially liked the head on at Birkett. Regards, John
