Exhaust SET valve noise GSXR 1000 (2017-current)

My bike has been rattling since I bought it. I searched online for a solution and didn't find any detailed solutions. This is a simple fix for the stock exhaust SET valve. For 2017-current bikes.

Hi. Thanks for making the video, excellent work. 2 complete turns of the nut eliminated my rattle (in case anyone needs to know), bike has done 1400km. Suzuki engineers should have spent 3 more minutes thinking about the design. The steel arm rests against a steel right angle lug once you engage the gear. If you look at it you will see wear marks between the steel. Steel against steel in a component which will constantly have vibrations. It would have been easy to make a durable rubber sleeve to go of the lug and also include a description in the owners manual about adjusting it. Ridiculously overly complex exhaust header system. Kawasaki are more clever, all the valves etc are in a removal muffler and cat converter. So you can easily swap out one or both and utilise the existing headers. No silly steel to steel touching each other constantly. I believe that arm only starts to open the valves in the headers from 9000 rpm (well over the speed limits), that's when the arm begins to moves away from the lug. So for 95% of street riding it's always touching and vibrating. Not so smart Suzuki engineers! Design flaw. Regards.

Ha this is a way better video than mine. Good work. Easy fix. Mine has settled into a very slight rattle that I don't mind(like a quieter open dry clutch on a Ducati). Also the cover bolts are very easy to snap off so take it easy

Just done it on a ’21 1000R model which started rattling at 2000km when putting it on 1st gear (nothing on N). 2 full turns on the nut was enough to make this rattle sound gone. Thx for this tip. I’ve also seen that there is a second adjustement nut on the front of the bike, but the left fairing must be took off.

Yo bro, I have a c46 code, I tried adjusting what you had showed in the video, it didn’t turn the code off, bike was sitting for some years, is there anything else to check so I can get the code off ? Bike only has 1500 miles on it

If you bypass the set valve on a 2011 and up, there is no brown wire in the #30 aka top row 5th from right side, that you remove to get the fI light off, like in earlier models. I know a servo buddy will work to fix the fI light. But i wish someone could tell me another way to get the fI light off (c46 code) without using a servo buddy, on newer model gsxr

My guess is you opened the valve too much. You should only be turning the nut enough to get the rattling to stop. If you open the valve all the way, it will affect the AF ratio at low rpms.

@@MCLIFE786 I googled c46. It looks like it is an error on the valve actuator itself. I am unsure if adjusting the valve will make the error go away. I did see that some have said disconnecting the cable completely helps, but I cannot confirm that is the case.

@@Obliter8Dave just for your info adjusting the valve took the code away. So in future if u get the same code first thing u do is try to adjust the valve like u did in the vid. My valve wasn’t even making rattling noise like yours did. I was literally gonna order the headers and eliminate the valve cuz that check engine light was so annoying but thanks god shits fixed now.

Good job.....wish you pointed out the nuts with a thin screwdriver first that way people could see it all......your hands are in the way of the actual process....and also would have been good if you showed actual position of cable properly vs improperly. But an A for effort and A- for video........Overall excellent.

My guess is you will lose power on the bottom end of your power curve. The purpose of the valve is to increase the volume of exhaust gas able to travel out the headers as you increase rpms.
