Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. Let's bring the joy back to ballet! You will see many different kinds of videos here including ballet classes, workouts, Q and A sessions, life advice, performances, beauty tutorials, technique tips, and more. I hope you find all of my videos helpful!

I’m a competitive Irish dancer and this workout was DEFINITELY needed! Going to incorporate this every week!
I feel like I need this just to get down the stairs safely 😅
Warmup: - Theraband wings 2 x 10r, in/out (left/right) - Yoga mat balance count to 20, each foot Elevés: - 3 x 4 sets of slow count of 4 up then down, each foot (if I counted correctly) Yoga Block Elevés: - On 2 feet, 10r Jump Presses: - 2 x 20r, each foot Death by Relevé: - 4 plie - 8 pulse - hold - Repeat for second This kind of functions like a dropset, lowering the difficulty to get more reps as you get tired. Someone lemme know if I got anything wrong!
These videos will be so amazing! I want to progress to the next level at my ballet studio (amateur adult dancer here), but I really need more strength. I hope I can impress my ballet teacher and convince her I can go the the next level! Thank you so much Kathryn! I love your videos!

Thank you!
🩷💕 I'm always watching well. Ballet is getting more and more fun. Thank you always Stay healthy💪🏻 and have a great day🎈🧸💕🩷🩵
Definitely loved this, hopefully there’s one for hips/splits
I have very strong ankles and feet as a dancer and a figure skater, and it's somewhat hard for my ankles to really feel lots of workouts. But after the third-fourth day of doing this it finally killed (in a good way) my feet and calves with the death by releve at the end. Love the rest of the building a foundation series! (as this is 2 months from when this came out)
I really like the yoga block stretch, that dipping the heels below horizontal and giving the calves and ankles a nice stretch. I may not be able to do every exercise but your videos are always a welcome!
Thank you for the encouragement that it's ok to not be able to get through everything on the first try. I often let my competitive/perfectionist nature get the better of me and then overdo it. It was a great reminder to pace myself so I CAN do this everyday and work towards the final goal. Thank you!!!!
Yeay, I love these workout videos of yours so much, I do them since years on a regular basis and it makes such a huge difference in class!! ❤👍🏻

Yay! I'm so glad!
Literally when I was looking to increase my leg strength for high demi-pointe for my pointe shoe assessment!!
This was great! It really showed me where my glaring weaknesses are. This is especially good for me because my feet were never flexible. It's just plain hard to dance in any level of ballet with inflexible feet. If only i would have done this consistently for years! Thanks for this video, Kathryn!
Love this video! Just what I've been looking for! I'm also hoping you'll do a video with tips on how to engage the upper leg muscles 🤞🤞🤞
Tho not a ballet dancer, I watch your show always. How I wished you were a principal with NYCB, you're so incredible as a classical dancer!
Omg! I was literally wishing for a video like this last night! Thank you!
i didn't like doing it, but i LOVE what it does for me! Thanks! i also share this with my pointe beginner students, who already do some of these exercises in my class, for an extra workout between weekly classes.
Now I know, that my boogie-woogie teacher, who gave us slow releve 8 counts up, 8 counts down is a true sadist)))) I love this video!
Thank you so much for this Katie! I’m really looking forward to trying these out and getting buff calves and ankles 😊
Oh boy is that a tough one!! Especially after class yesterday.🥰
Thanks kathryn ❤I did ur advanced barre and center today and it was the hardest and the best classes ever ❤can't wait for more great classes ❤gonna do this class soonnnn tmr 💕❤
This was fabulous! I so need this foundation strengthening. I'm an amateur adult dancer doing it solely for the love of dance. But, I would love to feel stronger at my base to progress further ❤
Thank you! ❤ these are such great exercises for pointe stability
wowww so intense amazing tysm this definitely gets a follow!
Definitely came in handy for me today. Thanks so much
I am not a dancer , but I want to get strength. Thank you!
I need these exercises! Thanks!
Got through everything except death by releve. I’m not a dancer but I have super-tight calves/Achilles. These exercises will be awesome to stretch those muscles daily!
Kathryn Try Calfstretching Exercise Which Is Lifting Up and Down On Those Tippytoes. Better Safer Than Sorry...
This will definitely help with my pointe work!
This is a fantastic idea! Thanks so much, I really need to get back on track after doing nothing all summer xD
This is exactly what I need, Thank you.
1) will this help for pointe? 2) would u be interested in doing a ballet deconstructed on osipovas giselle?? or other videos of her... or perhaps older legends like maximova, alonso, plisetskaya, asylmaturova?
Very Worth It!! Thank you 🤗💝
Really awesome thank you a lot!!!
I LOVE IT!
Wonderfully helpful: thank you
I'd love to hear more about the overstretched calves/achilles tendon pain correlation, and how that problem could be reversed.
I remember that room _ ankle strengthening is just what I need to help me get on pointe …
YES❤
Thank you for this great video ❤️ I'd love to know why you are not recommending doing the yoga block on one foot ? Thank you in advance 💗
I tried doing this.... not only are my calfs dead but my whole legs are too! thank you this was so helpful!
Love this Ty do you have any running shoe recommendations?
For safety reasons I would not do this BEFORE class. My calves are killed, - if I had class now I would crash down on the floor with every step. 😀

Same 😂 I just did this and I did this at 8pm and have a 9am class tomorrow I’m not sure I’m gonna be fully recovered 😅 but I need to get my ankles and calves much stronger I’m gonna keep doing this as much as possible along with feet strengthening exercises
Hi there Kathryn! Firstly, I wanted to say that I really love your channel 🩰🌻🤗 I have a technical question I wanted to ask you, maybe you could let me know... I wanted to ask, how is it possible to use music from nice ballet pianists for example nate fifield in you tube videos without getting any youtube strike etc? Or where do you get the music to use? Is it enough to simply purchase the music on iTunes and use it in the videos? I was thinking if I do this I'd get a strike or something...I've seen some other dancers on KZread also use their music and I wasn't sure how they do it? Because it's really hard to find any other good music for ballet class on any other music license website, no one has ballet class music, but I wasn't sure how to use these pianists' lovely tracks that they have without it causing an issue with KZread... I would deeply appreciate if you could advise me on this? Many thanks, Lika 🌻
I have naturally big ankles and calves (cankles)😢. Is this going to bulk them out?
Loved this! I didn’t know you have KZread memberships. I’ll check it out. I’d also love a video on how to get more muscular quads on a low calorie diet for thin women
