Exegetical Fallacies with Kipp Davis

Ойын-сауық

I'm extra excited for this episode where I am joined by Kipp Davis to discuss trends and various exegetical fallacies common in discussions about the Bible, specifically with regard to the Hebrew texts.
Enjoy the show!

This was a great conversation. I look for KZread channels like yours. I just subscribed to you. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Dr. Kipp is one of the scholars I support on Patreon. I love his work and he is such a great guy.

OK. I have no idea how the Algorithm (our only true God) led me to this conversation. I wasn’t paying much attention until 10:40, about when one of you guys stated that he was “working at a “Christian university”. OK. Let’s just be clear on the language here. A “Christian university” is what we usually call a “church” or a seminary where I come from. For full disclosure, I’m agnostic on Zeus. He seems to have mattered to many people back in the days but he might have lost it. I’m on the fence about whether He truly existed. You tell me. Is Zeus alright or should I switch faith? Can I do it without penalties? Do I get to keep my points? Peace on earth and long live to the giant Noodle(yeah, I’m a Pastafari - al dente).

Neither of us are Christians. We both used to be though.

@@TheFreedThinkerPodcast Thanks for your reply and apologies for my off the cuff comment. It was uncalled for. Case of DUI no doubt. We’re all former something and I should have taken note of the name of your podcast. Kudos for setting yourselves free. No small feat in such a deeply religious society. Even atheists in the Anglo world seem compelled to proselytize (and there are some fantastic ones, aka “the four horsemen”). A true public service! Next step to freedom is to start addressing religions as conspiracy theories, magical thinking, and other belief in ‘alternative facts’. We’re increasingly understanding the social and neurological reasons underpinning adhesion to any such beliefs (look up Gerald Bronner’s research). A long way to go. :)

He doesn't think the Bible is God's word and teaches a consistent message from the beginning to the end so there's your problem right there
