Executive Desk With Wireless Charging and Hidden Drawer

Watch our newest video: "A Fancy Dead Blow Hammer, a Back-Saving Quick Lift, and a Bargain Router Plane | Tools Unleashed 02 "
• A Fancy Dead Blow Hamm... -~-
When I moved to Colorado, I was lucky to buy a home that featured a very nice office space. It's one of those offices where there's actually no space for a desk against a wall and the only logical place to put one is in the middle of the floor. Fortunately, I also have a power outlet in the floor as well as an ethernet cable. I had a makeshift desk in place that had absolutely no storage so my desk was always a mess. This Executive Desk project features not only storage, but a few technology upgrades and creature comforts like in-drawer power, wireless charging, built-in outlets, and a ventilation fan. If you're interested in a full video series and a complete set of plans, check this project out in the Wood Whisperer Guild.

At first I thought: "Meh.... a desk... this should get boring fast...." Boy was I wrong. I love every singl aspect of that build. The hidden drawer, the seamless drawer pulls, the curved legs, the glass door... everything. Simply said: Awesome! Oh and Muntins.... Best Regards from Germany, Daniel

Love this!!! After I retired from military service I decided I wanted to get into wood working. I've purchased a few tools. And... yeah, that's kind of all I have done. I'm looking to build myself a nice executive desk, and a few bookcases/hutches, but with much simpler technics than you used here. Love what you've done here, it looks amazing and I'll bet it will last a few lifetimes.

I have watched a lot of KZread wood workers, and this is my first video I’ve seen of your. Dude, you are SAVAGE. I’m blown away right now. I started wood working last year at 32 years old and thought I was making progress.. I have re-evaluated my life after this 13 minute video. Your craftsmanship is outstanding. Great work man!

By far my favourite project that you have done. Been following you since "A king and his Castle" your attention to detail and production values just get better and better. To be honest, you were the inspiration to making my own videos. But I imagine there are a lot of people on youtube who can say that. Thank you.

Alright. Either I'm showing my age (as I'm closing in on 40 by most people's standards) or I'm maturing....but either way, Mark, this desk is probably my new favorite build. Showing the non-Festool floating tenons midway through gave me the idea to just cut one huge strip of wood, round the edges on both sides, and BAM! 6 feet of floating tenon to cut to length whenever I need it. Thanks man!

Finishes are like opinions and... you know what. Love how that wax finish looks on the cherry it really is a living finish which can be re-applied at any time. I could see a tung oil applied on a high-use desk surface, too. As a nerd by trade and at heart, I love the tech touches and emphasis on retaining the plain wood desk surface. There are a million ways to make wood furniture fancy, so the restraint demonstrated in this project is appreciated.

Hi WW... I am a retired woodworker... Even now I still watch vids and learn a trick or two. I just wondered if you have ever explored the idea of using a CNC machine... I have just bought an Xcarve from Inventables... It only has a 500 x 500 bed as I don't need a large machining field... This also has a free software to get you stated. I hope you will explore this idea in the near future... It seems CNC is becoming more and more popular... Frank... UK...
