She starts to become closer at around year 6 but things really kick off at around year 7 where it starts to develop into a friendship. Year 4 and 5 is just your MC and Merula essentially starts dating if you choose and it doesn't really show up in the main story aside from a few hints here and there including year 6 and maybe 7...but I'm early in year 7 so I'm not sure what's gonna develop. Hopefully at some point in this game the fact that you and a character are dating won't be secretive.

@@HelenaHades yes they are Thank u for letting me know In year 4, the part where you are about to enter the forbidden forest requires you to have an attribute level of 20 courage but my courage level is only 19 It is the duel part
