He was an oscar nominated Lighting Director with two Emmys, who looked after Meghan for a huge proportion of her life, paid for her lessons and took her to studios to get her started in her career. He was left to deal with hordes of journalists when Harry and Meghan became engaged, his only mistake was deciding to give a reporter exclusive coverage to get rid of the rest of the media outside his front door. By comparison to H and M sharing everything, including very personal details, I can't see what he did that was so terrible just having his picture taken trying a suit on and reading some London guide books!.

My father passed away from cancer back in 1988 when I was only eight years old. I would give anything to give my father a hug and I always try to send positive energy to dads like Mr. Markle. My father wasn't perfect and he was damaged from his time in World War II. But he was always my hero. No one is perfect.

This is just so cold she isn't wanting to meet so when he does pass there are no regrets. As someone who was raised by an abusive mother, cut ties with her and moved far away from her. When I had a child, I realized that parents make mistakes and I can forgive her, let her meet her grand kid, and responsibly monitor her around him so they can develop a healthy relationship. Megan's doing this out of manipulation. Her father (according to her) only did this one thing wrong. She didn't even bother to check in on him when he was dying.

Many believe he was set up by the paparazzi (by Meghan). There are interviews online with Samantha Markle who explains the situation and why she thinks it happened. Sam is well educated (mental health professional) and very articulate and lays out the facts. Also it seems the letter to her father was leaked to People mag (by Meghan). I believe details came out during a court case in the UK. Looks like Meghan had reasons to try to discredit the Markle family and the Samantha interviews explain it.

I never had a relationship with my father because of my mother. I had two children and the last time I spoke to my dad he wanted to see his grandkids before he died. This never happened 6 months later he passed away. For the last 6 years I have lived with this burden and take accountability that I robbed my children of knowing or seeing their pop . Hopefully Thomas gets to see his grand children.

Regret is a heavy burden regardless of whether we are right or wrong in our actions and decisions. And you must have had your reasons that justified your actions at the time. The fact that you now regret it. Means that you have grown in strength of character. And can and will learn from it. And it will make you a better person for the experience. As a parent you have truly learnt that you should absolutely love your children far far more than you dislike/hate the person involved. Please don't put yourself in the same category as this appalling excuse of a woman. She is not capable of feeling what you feel. She will never experience things like regret, empathy, compassion, conscience love, sympathy. She is void of all human emotions other than the ones that are hers. And that applies to every single relationship she has right across the board. She will always come first . And it will always be at the expense of someone else. That brought me to tears. Meghan didn't want the world to see her lovely, but normal, family. They weren't "posh" enough. Meghan did not want to the world to know that her family was normal. My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease several months before my sister's wedding. He walked her up the aisle, with assistance, and he delivered a very short speech. Just heartbreaking. Our daughter has abandoned us as well. We did and gave even more than we could afford and do while she was growing up. We were always so proud of her...but she has turned her back on us. Her father is going thru some of the same heart issues as Mr. Markle...she knows this thru her sister but she has never reached out. We have reached out to her...and have gotten complete silence. This is the same father who did a secret deal with a tabloid newspaper for nearly £1m days before the wedding where he posed for pictures shopping for the big day etc. Unfortunately, for him the newspaper used him and then called him a grifter. With all due respect Mr. Markle and his oldest daughter (Samantha) went on interview after interview bashing Meghan and Harry for years. M&H only did their documentary 5 years later to tell their story due to all the misconceptions told about them as they sat in silence. As a parent I will protect my children and my peace from anyone regardless of who they are (ei: King or Grandparent). Which is what they're doing and have a right to do... if he wants to restore his relationship with his daughter and see his grandkids he can start by not speaking to the media (press).

He could try suing but unless he has a good solid reason other than "I want to see them just cuz I'm the grandpa", he ain't winning that. Besides, if the kids reside in another country with their parents, any attempt at "suing" is almost laughable. Unless the kids are abused or in bad conditions, he must respect her decision, he already had his own children and did as he wanted to when they were young, he doesn't get to decide over other people's children. Megan might be unfair with her decision, or perhaps she has good reasons behind it, honestly, who knows, but that's irrelevant anyway cause these are her kids, not his, and if she doesn't want certain people in their young lives for X or Y reasons, then that's it.

Visitation rights aren't granted without good reason, and just because someone thinks they are entitled to somebody else's children. Grandparents' rights are usually only granted in cases where there is already a pre-existing and strong relationship between the child and the grandparent (which isn't in this case), and if they can prove that ending said relationship can negatively impact the child. So good luck on him winning that one! 👌🏼 In reality, and unless well justified, most of these requests are easy to dismiss/deny because there are laws that actually protect biological parents over any other family member in relation to the child (unless there's abuse, neglect... ect ).

My mother would never treat me the way THOMAS has treated the DUCHESS. Why can't he send her a letter to her home in Monticello. DORIA has not spoken to the press ever.

You are right I wonder why Thomas can't read in between lines to know that they are not sympathising with him rather inflicting injuries to him.Please someone should advise this poor oldman without wisdom he is rather making matters worse 4 himself. Shocking, GMB, for putting a man who you could hear in his voice, is still not well out for the media to sensationalise this story yet again

Before my father's eventual passing away from cancer (and especially on his deathbed), he sought forgiveness from me for all the times he was "strict" or "harsh". You have no idea how devastating it is to hear such words from your father. Obviously, I told him that he shouldn't be thinking like that but it hurt that those thoughts were in his head. Meghan needs to reconcile.

people here are delusional, she literally wrote a letter to him that he leaked to the press. At some point people give up, she has the right to give up on him if she wants to, ultimately it's her choice

One day the children will see their grandfather in this interview, they will realise they have missed this good, kind, clever and decent man as they have missed King Charles, and their parents will pay the price for their disgusting behavior towards their families.

I can’t understand why this happens in families. My parents are both dead and we’re not perfect but I’d never turn my back on them and had so much contact. Now they’re gone I’m so glad we had the relationship we did. I can’t see what Mr Markle did that deserved this? So sad and heartbreaking for him and his grandchildren.

What a con!!! If you really loved your daughter you wouldn’t be pleading with her via the news of which have done nothing but criticize & tear her down. I’d be interested of hearing the Mom’s point of view on this. So one sided. What a horrible father!!!

WHY does he act like a victim??? Thomas goes on TV to state...... "because I could sue her in CA to see my grandkids" ..... AND THAT IS WHY she stays away. Thomas has shown that if he were to take a picture with Archie and Lily, he would turn around and sale the pictures to the tabloids. Meghan is a mother now and as a mom, your priority is to protect your kids.... even from toxic family members. Same, Maureen.. I really hear you. Smeg is saying, "I lost my Dad" - but that's another lie. I'd give anything for one more day with my dad -- and he did far worse things to me than just setting up pap shots (which SHE set him up for - Backgrid are HER "dial-a-paps"!!) But I still loved my father & I'm so glad that I learned that hard lesson in the Bible about forgiveness, because his last years were some of our best together! Forgiveness is also imperative if you don't wish to turn into a bitter, twisted & tortured soul.. Which she clearly is. Smegs needs to learn that lesson - although I'm of the opinion that she set him up so that he couldn't come to the wedding - because she was afraid that he might slip & expose all of the lies she'd told Harry & the members of the BRF. Whereas she only had to pay her mother to keep her mouth shut. That's my own personal opinion, anyway. She had also demanded that Mr Markle cut his older children out of his life permanently - to choose HER, and ONLY her - which he refused to do, and for which I respect him all the more. What kind of person demands that of a parent!!? Well.. now we know! I hope Mr Markle is given the chance to form a close & loving relationship with his grandkiddies .. one that they will always remember & cherish ❤. Thank you for your post XX
