I'm surprised by many (most?) of the comments here and how hateful they seem toward Rod. The sense that I get every time I hear him speak is that he is a good, kind person who seems to have no guile and has a firm conviction of his beliefs. If he crosses paths with people that are scummy or who have made mistakes, that doesn't mean that he himself is scummy. I like him. Thanks, Stephen, for having him on and being a friend to him and everyone else.

Before I heard of Rod I was a mesoAmerican believer, after all, the BYU scholars aside so. But now I've seen the light. Thanks to Rod, Wayne, Jonathan, and others. I've had two conversions!

We’d heard about Rod Meldrum but had never listened to him speak until this episode. He seems like a very well meaning person. Thom Harrison appears “off in the weeds” especially if it’s true he gave Tim a blessing telling him he’d be the Prophet some day. It would be very interesting to see how Rod looked at the predicament Tim’s in if the accuser was Rod’s wife, daughter, or loved one….

It really doesn't matter where the Book of Mormon geography is, that's not the point of it and it's not worth arguing or attacking anyone over. The Bible has had centuries of archeology done on it to prove the Bible and I'm sure they argued over where locations were, etc. for a long time and now traditional Christianity gets to say: "See, here's your evidence for the Bible! We were right!" At least for New Testament anyway, but there's not really anything for the Old Testament. Noah's big old ark hasn't been found, the ark of the covenant to substantiate Moses is nowhere to be found, and the temple of Solomon isn't anywhere to be found, it was destroyed so we can't even really say any Hebrew history is true in Old Testament regards...... So is that of the Book of Mormon, yet the Book of Mormon has changed hundreds of thousands of lives. And, with all of the discovery of Biblical archeology over that time, is Christianity really united as they assert to be? No, they're more divided today than they have ever been for financial gain, religion is a business. KZread is the new Church pulpit and Patreon is the new collection plate, people go and listen to what they want to hear and throw money at those who can tap into their belief system and butter them up. Christianity ISNT united and contend one with another to fill their chapels and fill their collection plates. As for the Book of Mormon, it's the ONLY book that tells it's readers, read it and have a relationship with God, take it to Him and have a personal relationship with Him and ask Him. Come to know it's truth and how you can find truth in ANYTHING by that model, EVEN THE BIBLE DOESNT TELL YOU TO DO. Joseph Smith found James 1:5 which is as close as you can get, but for Joseph Smith being the greatest con-man who ever lived, you'd have to have no faith in God period and seek wealth to do what he did, if that's the case, and Joseph Smith was still poor and gained nothing of it, not even power, the Latter-day Saint community wasn't like Billy Graham's community by a long shot. So, those who come to know the truth of the Book of Mormon before all of this archeological evidence really surfaces are going to be better off having learned to walk by faith rather than by sight and have a totally different relationship with God than those who had to wait for the evidence of it, ironically that you read about in the Book of Mormon. I would contend that God never wanted evidence to be found. The 8 witnesses recorded in the front of the Book of Mormon were all He wanted and called that a day. By waiting until the mid 1800s, the Heartland or Mesoamerica we're covered by enough earth and only a marginal sized group of people under heavy American government laws and regulations against digging would keep it that way along with whatever plundering the ignorant Spanish would've done while they were here would have wiped out most everything you could have found, or the Lamanites might have done all that already and sacked and destroyed or burned down cities and burned up bodies or left them for the birds and wolves, God doesn't want you to know that way. And with everything that has surfaced and the evidence Steve here is seeing repeatedly, has it changed his mind? No! His proud and repeated vocalizing he's a Evangelical studying Mormons like cavemen, shows that archeological evidence, even, won't change ones mind, it has to be by the power of the Holy Ghost, which is by the power of the Holy Ghost that one to come to know the truth of all things, and further shows how much further ahead those who receive it by such are ahead of those who learn otherwise. Doctrine and Covenants section on the degrees of glory, I think is grossly misunderstood. People seem to feel: If I don't believe the Mormons in this life, there's mercy in the next and I'll know it them and will just accept it then and won't have to embarrass myself in front of everyone in this life, except we learn what? "That same spirit which doth possess our body in this life will carry over into the next ." - Alma 34:34. We also don't know what Spirit Prison is like, exactly. There will still be people buying for souls there still too. Missionaries from other faiths will still be trying to convert those to their way of life, Satan still has influence there too, why? Because as Brigham Young taught that the veil that separates the living from the dead is on this earth, that Spirit Prison and Paradise Jesus established and organized his forces to minister in is on this earth separated by a veil. "Oh, well, I'll just meet Peter or Joseph Smith or Moses or Noah and ask them" when I reach the other side, except, they won't be there, they will have be in Spirit Paradise. Missionaries will look just as they do here and so, to the point I'll just accept it in the next life, that's not so. "For THIS life is the time for men to prepare to meet God." - Alma 34:32. What does Doctrine and Covenants say on the matter of the mindset of those who procrastinate that day? Doctrine and Covenants 76: 71-74: 71 And again, we saw the terrestrial world, and behold and lo, these are they who are of the terrestrial, whose glory differs from that of the church of the Firstborn who have received the fulness of the Father, even as that of the moon differs from the sun in the firmament. 72 Behold, these are they who died without law; 73 And also they who are the spirits of men kept in prison, whom the Son visited, and preached the gospel unto them, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh; 74 Who received not the testimony of Jesus in the flesh, but afterwards received it. These are those who had a chance here. They'd been approached and had all the resources at their disposal and then flat out rejected it. You'd spoken with the missionaries, had KZread channels like this and had witness born to you of the Gospel of Jesus and the restoration of his original Church and then rejected it, those are they who passed this life and DIDNT reside in Spirit Paradise but in Spirit Prison. So what about Doctrine and Covenants 138 where Joseph F. Smith was reading 1 Peter Chapters 3 & 4 and had his vision of the dead? Those are those in life who are like those who live in North Korea, or some tribe that lives in the jungle who never had a way of even hearing about Jesus Christ, a loving and merciful God has temples for those people who never were free and able to hear the message of the restoration "BUT WOULD HAVE RECEIVED IT WITH ALL THEIR HEARTS HAD THEN BEEN PERMITTED TO TARRY." - Doctrine & Covenants 137:7. God is merciful, but he's still just. Jesus carried out the atonement to satisfy the demands of Justice, that's grace, but Jesus then, having paid the debt for us is now able to set the conditions having paid for us with his own blood. As Elder Wilcox taught to visualize this: God is the piano teacher, Jesus is the parent that pays the piano teacher, and as the one who paid the piano teacher, Jesus can now expect that we practice. "We're not earning our way into heaven. We're learning heaven." Jesus paid the Father the debt, Jesus can now ask of us what he will so we can learn and grow. "Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord! shall inherit my Father's Kingdom (not MY kingdom, but my Father's Kingdom) but he who DOETH the will of my Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 7:21

Rod mentioned the X haplogroup. There is also a H haplogroup found in Puerto Rico. This haplogroup has connections to Egyptians, which are likely closely genetically related to Hebrews. There is also a P YDNA that could be of Jaredite origin off of Baja and California.

Three things: I believe you should discuss the whole DNA issue with Dr Ugo Perego. His PhD is in genetics. He says the whole genetics discussion is essentially a moot point. He doesn't take a stand on the Meso-American model or Heartland. His take is pure genetics. When I heard Rod speak of the prophecies about the land being a land being a land of freedom without kings, it's the first thing from Heartlanders I've heard that gives me a reason to consider the issue. Finally, with Rod being from Logan, I believe I dated his sister, Rochelle, one two occasions for a period of three months each.

There are samples close to Hebrew origin. I can source the research papers if you are interested. But a HV2 sample in Texas from a Caddo Native. P samples on the coast of California by San Diego. More H samples in Puerto Rico. The HV2 sample is interesting because it has connections to both Egyptians and Hebrews (the Lehites partially descended from Egyptians).

Harsh criticism is not deplatforming Rod. Making fun of your ignorant views on DNA is not deplatforming.

Yeah, I don't listen to Rod too much, but I've heard a victim complex coming from him a couple of times. He has some interesting bits of information, but not enough to convince me of the Heartland model.

I also attended the Zermatt conferences. Loved all.

I used to be a meso guy, but he has better evidence than the meso advocates so now I am a heartland guy.

I have always felt that it was in North America. All the windup screens will rake place in North America so if it was all in South America why not have those things down there. Not that it matters as far as the truthfulness of the gospel. Love your work Carol

I have no desire to read the Ballard book but wow it’s a stretch to connect the possible reading of the Book of Mormon by Lincoln to his issuing the Emancipation Proclamation. I thought Lincoln wanted to abolish the two great evils - slavery and….polygamy.

Anyway it’s just my opinion that I really doubt that the Book of Mormon was an aha moment for Lincoln issuing the emancipation proclamation. Now if the 1860’s Mormons were not into polygamy and were abolitionists then I may consider a different opinion.

I think there is a TON of Meso people who taught their converts their theories and are hard core triggered by Rod and his theories. To be this outraged you have to be in love with the meso theory. It’s very pleasant to not care. That being said the words of the prophets saying the Book of Mormon happened in North America is solid ground even if Rod is wrong about some things. I can’t wait to get the records of the ancient Meso American people some day

I’m only 50 minutes in and Rod still has not answered the question about Tim Ballard. I was a a heartlander and has since left the church. I do admire Rod approach of truth seeking.

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not public opinion and slander.

So glad that Rod takes the position that people should withhold judgement on Tim Ballard. It is distrubing that many social media personalities have piled on and publicly judged him as guilty based on the accusations of women, without the other side being told. I find it reprhensible that these women accusers used these social media personalities to get their story out, knowing that Tim Ballard could not respond, and that these social media influencers even listened to them and then reported their opinion publicly. I hope that he can get a fair hearing in court since the jury pool has been poisoned by these social media people who have large platforms and are powerful influencers, not to mention the state of our justice system today.

Thanks for another fine video. I am a heartlander with an open mind, but pretty firm because it just makes sense. I first started learning about it when I started doing research to help one of my daughters who was on her way out of the church. I was desparate to help her find the truth and I came across Wayne May and was intrigued by this new idea. That was maybe seven or eight years ago. Long story short, I couldn't find things to keep her in the church and now am hanging on the edge myself. But I do believe in God, Christ, Joseph and The Book Of Mormon. As a side note, it really bothers me to see that book of Romney every week. I couldn't even make myself watch that episode because of the things that I know about him. I am not asking you to remove the book, just sharing some insight. He has a tendency to change parties according to what he thinks will bring him the most votes. He settled on Republican and moved to Utah where he could get even more votes from the Mormons. At least the Mayans had a fairly complex writing system but even that is completely foreign when compared with Egyptian or Hebrew. I have yet to see any textual evidence that supports the Book of Mormon. If such evidence existed I'm sure the Church would be loudly proclaiming it from every roof top. The fact that they do not is all the evidence we need, to the contrary.

How does it make since? do any of their temples even come close to resembling the Hebrew Temples. Evidence shows they did human sacrifices in them. They had steps instead of ramps, prescribed in scripture. The only river that is a candidate for Sidon runs the wrong direction. and then of course, there is the DNA problem and no oral history from natives that collaborate the BoM story.

42:56 Tim Ballard, I’m afraid, is unfortunately is guilty of many of these allegations. The Psychic working with him is very concerning. It’s more than allegations at this point. There are major problems with the funding and business ethics Tim brought to OUR. I defended Tim, but looking over the documents, I changed my mind.

I subscribe to the multiverse theory of BofM geography. 😉 I gotta be honest - with all the talk of snowflakes and victimhood these days that is generally lobbed at the "progressives", I've found the "conservatives" to be just as eager, if not far more so, to moan and whine about how they are being attacked unfairly. You're right Rod, the scholars got it wrong as to where the BofM was played out in the heartland of the USA. The LDS church has an agenda, it is not scripturally sound, and it has a lot of things wrong, polygamy being one of them when the Book of Mormon teaches against it big time. See MarriageAndPolygamy.

Go through Jacob ch 2-3 and search for the word "thing". Then you'll learn what "these things" refers to. 29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes. 30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.

@montymangum3214 that's wonderful but you would have to make believe that the sea west where Lehi's family landed was a great lake, that when Alma 22 says the lands of Nephi and Zarahemla were nearly surrounded by water when it specifically refers to their proximity to the sea east and sea west as what makes them nearly surrounded by water, to be something else entirely, perhaps a wider Mississippi without realizing that the area in Iowa those same heartlanders think is Zarahemla would be under the Mississippi if true, oh you know what, I'm tired and not making sense because the heartland model itself makes no sense. You may as well take a map of the USA, put it on a dart board, and say, "Book of Mormon city such and such is here," and determine the location wherever the dart lands.

I had planned to see “the Oath” but read that the f- word was used a lot so I didn’t go.

I saw it and I'm not sure what you're talking about. But frankly, I wasn't that impressed with the movie.

I would put myself in the “progressive” camp and I have no issue with people believing in the Book of Mormon being set in North America or any such beliefs. What I have an issue with is self-serving individuals who lie and who use others for their own narcissistic purposes. I do NOT believe that Rod Meldrum is such a person, but I do think that he is too trusting of those who are. I look forward to a time when those with oversized egos no longer have more power than others in the world. We all need to learn to be a little less trusting, especially nice people like Mr Meldrum.

I have dealt with false legal allegations. I was stunned at the web of lies forcefully and maliciously thrown at me in court. I have learned from my own experience and from my efforts to help many others in similar situations , that no matter what kind of "proof" is being spilled out in a court we have very little idea what the truth REALLY is as onlookers. Witnesses can be tainted. I've seen entire court session recordings suddenly "lost", Judges can ridicule without cause, and lawyers can manufacture any outlook they want . Do we know absolutely everything that's going on? Which of ANY OF US can be 100% certain of anyone else's thoughts, circumstances or motives? It is impossible. Only God knows the whole of anything. It takes a godly nation, with righteous leaders, judges and others to access the spirit of truth. To the one being judged it can feel devastating to have the hope of justice coming about when you feel ever tightening restrictions closing in around you and suddenly realize you are dealing within an unreliable, if not corrupt system. Gag orders and even threats do exist that inhibit the truth from being openly expressed. If we are completely honest we know we live in a time when money and power sadly often take precedent over honesty and justice. There IS such a thing as modern day Gadiantons, and they are not in some far off little corner of the world. Our greatest trials are usually ironic. A man who gives his all to fight for the freedom and respect of others at great expense to himself can be bound up and anything but respected or free to speak so that the truth can be known. PLEASE hold back from judgement. Can you imagine what it would look like and feel like if you were in his place? If we would pray for our enemies, should we not pray for our friend Tim? He has been a loyal friend of freedom and truth, liberating the captive, those without means to free themselves. Now he is in a place of bondage. He DOES NOT need our judgement. He needs our support and our earnest prayers.

Rod speaks out loud the true (OG) doctrines of the LDS church that most members today are afraid to admit.

Rod Meldrum seems like a good and decent fellow, but I fear that his movement places politics and nationalism above the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I apologize if this comes across as harsh, but it needs to be said.

It’s a fair comment, and I disagree, but appreciate the kind way in which you can share an opinion.

I love how Heartlanders call Nephi a false prophet to support their model. Columbus was prophesied to visit the seed of Nephi's brethren IN The Promised Land, and Columbus never set foot anywhere on the Continental United States Of America, just some of the Caribbean Islands and a few places from Honduras to Panama. So at the very least Honduras has to be part of The Promised Land, and Mesoamericans, the only people Columbus encountered, part of the seed of Nephi's brethren. Furthermore, in a book, an Archeologist had identified copper from the Great Lakes area on sunken Minoan ships in various places, and identical anchors to there's in the Great Lakes themselves, and also connected Megalithic circles with determining safe times for Cross Oceanic travel. That definitely accounts for Middle Eastern DNA. The Book Of Mormon mentioned people traveling North an exceedingly great distance, and it describes Lamanites hunting down all Nephites, which would account for both in North America, even with the Mesoamerican model, but the Heartland model has other insurmountable issues keeping it from working, that the Mesoamerican model doesn't.

@@artgirlkerri Well, the Catholic Father Joseph in the 1500s thought that the Mayans must have come from Israel and at sometime after encountered Christianity, based of their religious practices. So the chances are very good. Of course this was before he went crazy and burned as heresy every Mayan writing he could get his hands on.

Against sex trafficking? Did the LDS church tell the missionaries in England, and other locations to deny that Mormons practiced polygamy? Yes. Did missionaries get asked this question over and over during early church history? Yes. Did these missionaries know the truth? Yes. Did people sell all they had and left their family behind to travel to another continent and arrive broke to the middle of nowhere? Yes. Did early church leaders marry these women without teaching them about polygamy? Yes. Did women marry these men not knowing they became a 2nd to whatever wife? Is this sex trafficking? Brigham Young and church leaders threatened the lives of women who sought to leave after they learned the truth. Is this sex trafficking? Something to consider when you claim that Tim Ballard is being righteous. Something to consider when Mormons say that their church is the only true church.

Rod is one of those guys who knows Mormonism isn’t true but “knows” it is true, even thought it isn’t, and he’s okay with that. Nobody’s out there at this point thinking “Yeah, Nephi and Meroni were real people.” Yet, there is a whole “Nephi and Meroni were real people” community. It’s an incredibly fascinating phenomenon as a matter of anthropological/socio-cultural psychology. It’s only “religious” in an incidental sense. It’s almost like the traditional Islamic mythology of “Muhammad” and “Mecca”. Rod’s a hard guy not to like, but I pray for him and all Mormons. Catholicism is here with open arms for those with faith in the historical Godman Jesus and an inclination towards an epistemologically sound worldview!
