Eugene exudes the spirit of freedom. A freedom that is "demonstrated not explained"! Gogol Bordello's cover of Angelic Upstarts' "Solidarity" is an anthem of this freedom. Hope is our collective responsibility, Ukraine inspires and demonstrates the need for that hope.

Great interview! "You don't explain, you demonstrate". Loved Eugene as a teenager, but 20 odd years and nine months working with AFU later, and you gain a different level if respect for Eugene's insight.
I've discovered them recently. Yevgen , being Ukrainian too, I'm proud of you 👏 Great texts and music 🎶 you are incredible ❤

Great interview! Didn't know London had this Ukrainian Institute. Slava Ukraini! Have loved Gogol Bordello since the first time I heard them many years ago. Hope to see them live this year for the first time. Am sure it will be amazing. ❤☮🌎

They are amazing every time they play! Been to over 15 gigs of theirs in London, got many friends into them, one day I hope to meet Evhen in person, I emigrated from Ukraine around the same time as him, he keeps me on my toes wrt being Ukrainian and helping my compatriots and our friends and families still in Ukraine with anything we can! Слава Україні! (and yeah, 14/12/23 gig was brilliant!, as usual)

Hell yeah! I've loved Eugene's music and acting work for years. So happy to randomly come across him again on youtube, and hearing him speaking out like this. SLAVA UKRAINI!
Yevhen is a real Ukraininan, and this war gave him a great kickass to rebel and to create. I was deeply impressed by the power of his resent songs.

My mother side of my family on her dad side are from the Ukraine. I was able to trace my family tree all the way back to the 1870s to a village called Fasland Village in Goberince County but I can't find it on a map.

I did this and ended up Scottish thinking my lineage was Irish. Low and behold I am from Scottish royalty who fought British on 3 different soils. That crazy ancestry app tells many tales 30 days free then dump it before they bill you 😂👍

"Ethno-power is a kind of source." Punk wasn't birthed out of ethno-hate. The only genuine part of this guy is the honesty in his ignorance. At least there's no question he came up hating Russians as a core belief. The hate oozes from his pores. Not really the message that stirs feelings of honest and moral defiance.
