This film tells the story of way too many people in the u.k. and America. When will people wake up and realize that corporate capitalism is a criminal entity that only serves the rich, or who is know as the 1%. We need to get rid of this predatory system and implement one that serves the needs of all, including the other animals that live on this planet and the planet itself. Check out Richard Wolff's lectures on cooperatives. That makes sense for the people, and not just the sociopaths that control everything now.

corporate capitalism IS capitalism. we need to end capitalism if we are to ever end the things portrayed in this film. i just watched the film for the first time and was deeply affected by it. i live in the states, and have lived on government assistance my entire life due to a severe disability. my entire life. and i can honestly say that everything portrayed in i, daniel blake is going on here in the states as well, and in some ways is worse. the complete and unapologetic destruction of capitalism is necessary in order to form a humane world and end the systematic fucking of our planet.

This happen all over western countries. Sadly. horrid. I know from experience. Now after so many years, fights to get out of it, ruining my health over it, am i in a position to study to become a social adviser. Not to be mean to citizen but to help and change the sick toxic system. Danish system has slowly changed for the better but some communes still lack behind and are stuck on we have done this as so always why change it? I ask all those that are cold and robot with citizen in chaos spits em out to hell, how do you sleep at night?

'I, Daniel Blake' was amazingly moving. I signed on for a time in the 90's in the UK. It's exactly like how they show it in the film. It's completely demoralizing and you get the sense it's very deliberate. There are some real nasty arseholes working in there as well. They're out to get ya!

Indeed. The anger is definitely mis- directed. The arguments I have had on youtube where many blame, the welfare recipients, the elderly, and baby boomers. It makes me deeply sad that people want to throw these vulnerable people under a bus. They simply don't get the connection between them getting poorer whilst corps getting richer

The message in the film is spot on - it’s truly horrible to lose your job through ill health etc then to be treated less than humanly possible that you have to fight for something just to survive.......... plus in the uk it’s still going on ..... our Tory government is the party of food banks and poverty...........

Why should landlords be held accountable for people and their problems? People work extremely hard to buy property and maintain it and use it as their pension when they're too old to work. Then it's passed on to their children and grandchildren. You just sound bitter.

Even the tories know they're scum. And the truly odious Toby young on Boris - "With his huge mop of blond hair, his tie askew and his shirt escaping from his trousers, he looked like an overgrown schoolboy. Yet with his imposing physical build, his thick neck and his broad, Germanic forehead, there was also something of Nietzsche’s Übermensch about him. You could imagine him in lederhosen, wandering through the Black Forest with an axe over his shoulder, looking for ogres to kill. This same combination-a state of advanced dishevelment and a sense of coiled strength, of an almost tangible will to power-was even more pronounced in his way of speaking."

Cheap vulnerable labour keeps greedy capitalist employers competitive and keeping a pool of unemployed disciplined through an unjust benefit system reminds the labourers that they should be glad they have got a job. Ken is absolutely right I just thought I would expand on your points a little.
