Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie., explains: "We started with the bracelet, comfortable, elegant and different. We then designed this model around the chronograph function, as this was what we really wanted to highlight. The Streamliner is a chronograph which displays the time rather than a watch which features a chronograph. We preferred understatement, ergonomics, and legibility, opting for a central display with no sub dial: perfectly matching our minimalist philosophy. We took the very essence of the chronograph, and raised it to the next level".

    What a beauty! Moser seem to have diffrent and very refreshing designs throughout their range. I love the fact they are able to conceive totally new looks, top to bottom. Everything is diffrent from what others do, the beautifull waved and flexible bracelet, the sunburst on the case, the functional but very legible dial...I think other brands must be jealous about their clear-Eyed design team. This imagination is what most brands are missing out on, stuck in their past and tradition....

    I think this chronograph will quickly become a new design icon! Every decade has its over-the-top design in the watch industry. The last decade for me was the decade of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo. The new, just started decade could become the decade of the Streamliner collection of Moser, since the chronographs "only" marks the start of an entire collection... Time will tell...

    I had a feeling and am so happy they would use this movement as soon as I started watching this excellent video. It is so wonderful to see a company actually design something unique and very distanced from all the usual suspects. The bracelet is stunning, the case shape contemporary and yet has a nod to the past the dial spectacularly beautiful and easy to read. I applaud this company for such a great design that has its own looks with a fantastic movement of real horological worth. This is one of the most exciting watches that has been released in decades for me. I find it very very exciting. Yet another fantastic report Alexander, thank you so much.

    This is one of the best new watches I have seen. It is very classy and the intricacies of the design in the bracelet and case shape (especially the rear) with all those scoops and curves are what makes it so special. I love what this family are doing with H. Moser and it is so much more than a ‘seventies’ design, the movement not only looks fantastic but it’s operation is perfect as well. Thank you for - as usual - a great video. Of course, starring two of my favourite "characters' in the watch industry. Both you and Edouard Meylan have a wonderful, refreshing sense of humour. Well, the watch is outstanding, and I am already thinking of how many other watches in my collection I will have to sell. But I don't think I will make it on time, as this one might sell out pretty fast. Still, there will be future models to consider. Although at 70 years of age, how long can one wait?! Anyway, this is such a wonderful brand, I am proud to be an owner already even if I can't get one of these! It appears they started the design with the bracelet, developing the case and movement later. I love that, also that the movement and case are a perfect fit. Cheers, Carl

    not bad for a first time chronograph. i'm looking forward to where Moser will take this collection. Since this collection is called the streamliner, maybe subsequent versions will streamline the case size 😉 on another note, i find it funny that there are many watch enthusiasts/collectors who complain about how new watch releases tend to look generic, or similar to each other, but when someone tries to make something different, they still complain! of course there's a high risk that if you expect "different", it will be "ugly", but it seems people are more focused on reacting (kneejerk), than they are on responding thoughtfully...

    @@WatchAdvisor Well, it certainly gave me the hots for a Zenith AH385 and an Omega Speedsonic; so it's doing something to me. But $40K is quite a lot. For that price you have to really appreciate the trick movement inside and the resulting clean dial. It certainly is a lot more interesting than the Lange Odyssey, but the design might not be sufficiently upmarket.

  • @WatchAdvisor

    FFL Interesting read... thank you for coming back... “Sufficiently upmarket design”, is defined how? If you would ask me I wouldn’t be able to give you the correct answer. We see on a regular base watches to sell in the upmarket where I ask myself: how can one buy it? Is the new Chopard Alpine Eagle, the A. Lange & Söhne upmarket design? Is the one or other hilarious Hublot design upmarket? Is the Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time upmarket? Is Richard Mille upmarket?

  • @FFL3001

    @FFL3001

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@WatchAdvisor The Chopard Eagle and Lange Odysseus are money grabs. And not particularly good looking ones. Hublot is a laugh, it's fun. Yes, the Patek is sufficiently upmarket. I prefer the 5522, but the second hand prices on that one bumps into the ceiling of reasonableness. RM... it's not a watch, it's a badge of wealth for those who want to look down on Rolex people. My problem with the Moser design is that it's quite similar to the midrange vintage watches I've mentioned and there are too many compromises imo. A 42mm cushion case is quite a massive thing. It's also quite thick. At $40k that's a bit much to bear. You're almost in Patek/AP precious metal territory here. It's even thicker than the massive Vacheron Overseas Chrono at almost half the price. And whereas the Vacheron is a developed design from a a luxury watch from the seventies, this looks.... like a 60s midrange tribute watch. A very well executed one, but still. Actually, I would expect a watch like this from Glashütte Original. It would also be very well executed, but cost more like $10-15k. In short; I see a lot I like, but I don't think it is well placed in the market.

    It must be the "Navigator" you have... A very cool watch! Which dial color do you have?

    That movement looks absolutely stunning. I adore that movement, and I’m a little annoyed that centre seconds and minutes isn’t the chronograph standard. The rest of the design, however, i don’t love as much. While the design is definitely less contrived other recent sports watches (looking at you Chopard Alpine Eagle), every time I look at it all I can see is an IWC Ocean 2000 that has somehow melted in the sun. Now to be clear, I don’t think it’s ugly, and I definitely don’t dislike the watch, but I do feel it could have definitely been more aesthetically pleasing. Kind of like how the Lange Odysseus was an almost perfect watch, only for the bracelet to be just a little off, dragging it down to ‘only’ a great watch.

    Very beautiful watch, and it's design looks like inspired by Omega's Chronostop + Polaris, thanks god not another blue face stainless steel!!! And love your quote and indeed much better than the one named after a race track in USA :)

    The design is cool indeed and it will make its way. I even predict that it will become cult pretty soon. Keep in mind that only few dare to present anything new. I am also sure the Streamliner collection will be a success ...
