It says alot for where we are as a national team. If we can avoid relegations and finish respective without qualifying and get a few pointless wins against minos or draws against big teams in friendlies, he'll probably last be around for long. A 39% rate seems on the high side with where Irish national team is right now so should be a decent hope for the future. Great job FAI board, 8 months to find a nobody. Fantastic work. You'll probably be getting big bonuses for this now. Well deserved. Let's just hope they introduce a second tier competition for all the shit teams in Europe in the near future. Not saying we'd win it but it would be nice to go to a summer international competition in the future to cheer on our team.

If that’s what it takes, so be it. That’s one good thing about the Stephen Kenny era, it was a bitter yet valuable lesson for the Irish media, that they don’t know as much about football as professional people like Giovanni Trapattoni and Martin O’Neill.

The FAI is just made up of people who involve themselves in the boring but essential work of football administration. Anybody in football can put themselves forward for this type of work in the various leagues, and then work their way up. It’s much easier not to bother though, and just criticise the people who do.

The biggest story here isn't that there's a new manager, it's that the FAI have again proved themselves to be an organisation completely unfit for purpose. The fact that a manger is being appointed eight months after the sacking of Kenny (which was known as far back as September) is simply a disgrace. The same old issues will happen again and again, until heads roll at the FAI, and the organisation is completely reformed
