Lets all get behind him, it's not going to be an easy task considering how incredible difficult it will be to be competitive in the nations league with the level that the three teams are at and the world cup qualifiers considering where Ireland is ranked in the world and how hard the teams will be to play against. he clearly did wonders with Iceland and Jamaica by getting them to major tournements. It's been a long while since we were last competitive in a qualifying campagn so lets hope that he can get us competiting like the previous managers did before Kenny's time with the team.

It’s an interesting appointment I have to say. He’ll get us playing high energy level football in a solid cohesive way. Like what he done with Iceland in the euros in 2016. The FAI is just made up of people who involve themselves in the boring but essential work of football administration. Anybody in football can put themselves forward for this type of work in the various leagues, and then work their way up. It’s much easier not to bother though, and just criticise the people who do.

It says alot for where we are as a national team. If we can avoid relegations and finish respective without qualifying and get a few pointless wins against minos or draws against big teams in friendlies, he'll probably last be around for long. A 39% rate seems on the high side with where Irish national team is right now so should be a decent hope for the future. Great job FAI board, 8 months to find a nobody. Fantastic work. You'll probably be getting big bonuses for this now. Well deserved. Let's just hope they introduce a second tier competition for all the shit teams in Europe in the near future. Not saying we'd win it but it would be nice to go to a summer international competition in the future to cheer on our team.

Ffs! In favour of what? Lump it up the field, hope that some big guy can hold it and give it to someone he recognises? Caveman football, defending for 90+ minutes, hoping the opponents make a mistake - yeah, that really worked out great in the past. What about a mix of styles, playing to your strengths and amending what you do based on what’s currently in front of you and what players you have etc etc. Tippy-tappy, me arse. 🙄

@@gerh33 Did I say that!!!!! Look kenny tried to turn us into Man City crazy stuff playing out from the back costs us loads of goals, ALL our best performances were when we went back to what we do best direct agressive football doesnt mean long ball,!!! how did the last 6 years under kenny go we are now ranked the worst in decades we were so easy to beat, NOWHERE near close to qualifying, Just trying to try to be like the French Germans we just dont have the players ATM playing to our strenghts isnt caveman football there are many ways to set a team up lets face it the passing experminent was a total failure!!!!!!!!!

Everyone loves John O'Shea as a player and a lovely guy. However he's not got the experience to get us back into tournaments, where this guy does. O'Shea will be a good coach in the future but too early for him imo.
