Excess Pressure across a Curved Surface | in HINDI | EduPoint
In this video in Hindi we evaluated the excess of pressure across a curved surface. In another video we evaluated excess of pressure inside a liquid drop or air bubble inside a liquid or a soap bubble. It is found that the excess of pressure in a liquid drop or air bubble in a liquid is two times the surface tension of the liquid over the radius of the drop or the bubble. Whereas, in case of soap bubble that excess of pressure is equal to four times the surface tension over the radius. But with that method we can find the excess pressure when the surface is a spherical surface. In this video tutorial we derived the equation for the excess of pressure across a curved surface which may not be a part of a sphere.
The free surface of the liquid behaves like a stretched membrane which tends to contract. The pressure applied by the free surface is cancelled by that excess pressure.
OTHER RELEVANT TOPICS :
Surface Tension - Surface tension is a property of liquid surface due to which liquid surface behaves like a stretched membrane.
If one draws an imaginary line on a liquid surface, the intermolecular force acting across the line per unit length is defined as the surface tension of that liquid surface.
Surface Energy - The surface energy of free surface of a liquid is the increament in potential energy of the surface per unit increment in area.
