Say what you will about Jim Caveizel or Willem DeFoe, but Robert Powell will always be my favorite actor who played Jesus.

That whosoever believed in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus tried to make Nicodemus and us understand ! Hopefully we are born again in our faith.Enough to be considered for Heaven !

2:21/2:35 (The look on Nicodemus face is classic moment). It was as if at this precious time that Nicodemus understood the mystery of the ages and was no longer perplexed over the ministry of Jesus. It's possible that when Jesus said... that the world may be saved through him, that Nicodemus' mind reflected on how Old Testament Levitical priesthood animal sacrifices were offered for forgiveness of the people and how now God's upgraded plan was for Jesus to become our Supreme Passover Sacrifice for salvation. Robert Powell's performance as Jesus of Nazareth was fascinating and just incredible. He captured the essence of Jesus' character in this movie more so than any other actor who played the role of Jesus in other movies on Christ. And I salute the other actors in this film; they did a fantastic job as well at playing other biblical characters. The movie Jesus of Nazareth is a masterpiece.

I know this is a very lovely reenactment of Nicodemus visiting with Jesus. But according to the bible, Nicodemus visited Jesus at night time. And it was actually at the very beginning of Jesus's earthly ministry. In this version, it seems like it's taking place 2 days before Jesus got arrested

Was the Good Samaritan "born again" or was he simply a follower of the command that to get to heaven you must love God and your neighbor as yourself. But this parable is not from the mythic Christ but from the real Jesus who when asked the way to heaven did not reply "I am the way etc" but quoted from the Torah like a good rabbi should. The gospel writers would never have allowed this response so it must be an interpolation. But it is the only part of the gospels that has the truth in it.

Deliberately removed the reference to water baptism in John 3:5, Protestant heretics made this film.
