These are the best tutorials I've ever done. Really excellent work Jon. Very easy to follow on and understand. Great mix of visual, interactive, and audio teaching. I can't express enough how much this has taught me.
Well, I can say something similar about you: "Your amazing professional videos (editing and pace) are TOTALLY inspiring!!"
I just got an accounting internship, & you have made me look like a rockstar at work. Thank you so much for your insightful videos.
As always, great job Jon. I would give it multiple thumbs up if I could. This video is only about 16 mins, but it took me hours to get through. I took notes, and practiced the skills, so now I am confident to use them.
Works with Excel for many years and still found new efficient stuff watching this video, thanks!
This is pure gold! I have some serious data consolidation/reconciliation work to do tomorrow and this will save me hours. Thank you.
Love seeing the growth your channel has had when watching it in chronological order. The last video before this one was 6/9/13 and it is apparent you elevated the quality here. This is my simple thanks to help the KZread algorithm work its magic, not that you need it 😂
i was looking for this all over the internet, thanks a lot. you're a life saver
Thank you, Jon!!! Your videos are the best source to master Excel. Very Helpful.
Thanks, very helpful to someone that hasn't used Excel with all the new features in a long time.
Thanks Mike! Your enthusiasm for Excel is inspiring!
Absolutely great video! Great pace and editing and content!!
Oh my god, I feel like jumping one level up in Excel after knowing how useful Excel Table is. Thanks Excel Campus, this is very informative. Subscribe done!
Thank you so Much for this! Your channel is a great way to expand my skills in Excel. More Power to you Sir Jon.
Thanks! It definitely takes some time to get used to the formula syntax (strcutured references). I provide some additional links to resources on the page in the description above. The article "Why you should use structured references in tables" by Zack Barrasse is great. I also have an article on how to create absolute references with the structured references (table formulas).
I come back to these videos again. They are the best!

Las Vegas, NV, USA: Awesome teaching style, thanks!
Very nice video. I am an retired analytical chemist and wish I had understood Excel tables back when I was doing laboratory application programming. This would have made my application development much quicker and a lot easier to maintain and update.
Gosh Jon! You made it sooo easy! I never knew this about tables and its functions! Very inspiring! Thank you! Just wish I had known about this site then I would have aced my tests!
Fantastic work. This is extremely helpful, especially the dynamic linking. Just have to get used to the tweak in writing formulas but looks awesome.
am addicted to your videos, you have a fantastic teaching style and they are short enough to digest a bit at a time, thank you 😁😁

This is one of my favorite videos on creating tables. Love to know if there is an updated one since this is from 2013 and it's now 2024. Information is all useful, but there is probably more than can be added, yes?

Jon: Thanks for your explanation about the structured references in tables. I kind of knew how to do work them but after seeing this video, it has given me a different idea on how to work with them specially your TBL naming convention and the names of the columns: you are right : it is more efficient to use the structured reference however like you showed in the video, it is tricky to copy formulas with the structured reference but it is a matter of getting use to it..

jazzista1967 Thanks for the comment! I'm happy to hear that you are learning structured references. Once you get used to them they can really save time when writing formulas. Have a great day!
I'm working with tables that have 1.05 million rows and 36 columns so this is REALLY GREAT STUFF thanks! I used your vlookup tutorial to categorise my data into 6 categories, but I now need to learn how to create a 6 row (Class Total) x 5 column (Percentage) matrix. Any pointers, please?
Great teaching video! Only one question, after using remove duplicate records for the region column, is there any way to recover those removed records back?
This is very helpful and i really thank you for sharing it.. but how can i use the table on a Word or pdf document?

Jamie Winch Hi Jamie, The tables in Word are similar, depending on which version of office you are using. You can copy/paste your Table in from Excel, or you can insert a new table in Word from the Insert tab. For PDFs, you can export your Excel and Word documents to PDF from the File menu. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Checkout this video tutorial on Excel Tables. I show how to create a table, then explain 10 awesome features that make tables one of the most useful tools in Excel when styling, sorting, filtering, and summarizing your data.
Founds this very helpful. I have a workbook that has the number of days out an order has been placed from set delivery date. I've done this simply by taking the booking date away from the set delivery date. My challenge is I want to bundle these within a range. I've created a second worksheet and wanted to bundle the dates within a range so for example I could see how many bookings are made between 0 and 30 days out from set delivery date and then the same for those between 31 days and 60 days and so on. The result I need to see is how many orders fall within in each bundle of date ranges. I cannot see how to do this - guidance appreciated.

Hi James, Great, great question! This type of report can be created very easily with a pivot table. Here is a link to a video series I have on pivot tables and dashboards. www.excelcampus.com/charts/pivot-tables-dashboards-part-1/ I have an article on how to group dates and times in a pivot table vs the source data. www.excelcampus.com/pivot-tables/grouping-dates-pivot-table-versus-grouping-dates-source-data/ And another article on how to group times in Excel. www.excelcampus.com/charts/group-times-in-excel/ I hope these resources help get you started. Thanks again for your support! :-)
To connect pivot table data source with Table works only with table in the same excel file or can it be connected through external link
Thats for the great video. I have a question, though: In my Excel table, when I change a formula in one particular cell, it automatically updates the forumula for all cells in that column, even though I want to change formula for that particular cell only. I am using Office 365. Is there a way I can control this automatic formula update in Excel table? Thanks.
hello Jon, but when we delete the duplicate and copy-paste the region name, we are losing data as well?
Las Vegas, NV, USA: Hi Jon, say, would you happen to know how to tell which cells have hyperlinks? The original, default hyperlink cell formatting was changed so they are no longer underlined, bold or blue. I'd like to format them so I can see at-a-glance again which cells have hyperlinks. Thanks!
Hi Jon, Can you tell me what is 109 in the subtotal function please! Thanks. Nadia
@TPerm-hj4sf

Nadezhda Petrova you can cut that formula and position it right beneath the column it is referenced too. Then a scroll bar would appear, function 109 will be switched back to the its original name in that scroll bar. Just look at what it highlights.
How to restore the table back to what it was, after removing duplicates?
how do you make it plain looking without the arrows in table header like it does in windows?
... I don't know howI lived all this time without using tables!
It's a very interesting and wonderful video, subscribe to the channel. I will come to see the video again 😄
does this work for 2016 or 2019 or 365
Hi. Great video. The download link does not seem to work. Is there a way I can get the download ?

I'm sorry about that. Does the link to the page not work? Or are you having difficulty filling out the form on the page? Any additional info you could provide on what's not working would be awesome. We've had a few reports of this and we are trying to figure out the issue. And here is a link to download the file. www.excelcampus.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Excel-Tables-Examples-Unformatted.xlsx Thanks again and have a nice weekend! 🙂
when adding new rows to a table, any idea how to stop the cell color from the previous row from autofilling? I want everything else to be duplicated (like formulas etc...) just not the cell color itself, I would rather this just default to filling in the cell colors of the original table format. As I fill in my data row by row I fill in certain cells with color to help me keep a quick visual on where I have left off with data entry to recognize rows I am finished with or not.

Hi Francis, You can turn the banded row colors on/off with the Banded Rows checkbox that is in the Design tab of the ribbon. That tab will appear when you select a cell inside the Table. I hope that helps. I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Thanks!
Hi Jon i have again difficulty to log in i am going to purchase the Tab on for macBook but i can make it regard Tammy
How to restore the original data after removing duplicate in a column followed by a copy and paste action?
i am trying to download the fills since last night i couldn't get result even i email you but i didt get any practic sheet or videos could u please give me some more information what is other alternative selection!!!!
i am trying to make a point system for my kids in excel. what i would like to do is in collum A put chores, collum B be able to put +1 through +100 and also -1 through -100 then on collum C point total. so if i put +2 in collum B in collum c it will put 100, but if i only put +1 in B in collum c would be only 50. then have collum c also have total points

Hi Gerald, Sorry, I just saw your comment. I hope you got it figured out by now. But if not, there are a few ways to go about it. You can use a formula for this. If there are only two conditions then you could use an IF function. If there are more than two conditions then I recommend using a VLOOKUP function. Here is an article on the IF function: www.excelcampus.com/functions/how-to-write-if-function/ Here is an article on how to use VLOOKUP: www.excelcampus.com/functions/excel-vlookup-explained/ With the VLOOKUP solution you will create a separate table with two columns. One for the grade (1,2) and one for the points (50,100). The VLOOKUP will lookup the grade from your data table in the lookup table, and return the points. I hope that helps.

Yes, the menus on the Mac are a bit different than the Windows version. I will create a video that shows how to create tables on the Mac. The basic principals are the same, but I understand how it can be confusing. Let me know if there is anything specific you want me to cover for the Mac version. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate you letting me know! -Jon
