Excel 2016 - VLOOKUP Excel 2016 Tutorial - How To Use and Do VLookup Formula Function in Office 365
In this Microsoft Excel 2016 Tutorial on Windows 10, I demo how to use the VLOOKUP function to reference different product information. VLOOKUP looks for the value in the leftmost column of a table, and then returns a value in the same row from a column you specify. By default, the table must be sorted in ascending order. The Lookup value is the value to be found in the first column of the table, and can be a value, a reference or a text string. The Table Array is a table of text, numbers, or logical values, in which data is retrieved. Table array can be a reference to a range or a range name. The column index number is the column number in table array from which the matching value should be returned. The first column of values in the table is column 1. Finally, the range lookup is a logical value to find the closest match in the first column. True or omitted; find an exact match = false. This Office 365 tutorial is meant for beginners who would like to learn more about how to use the Office Suite.

Spent a lot of time watching videos on the Vlookup function, but could not understand any of them, most seemed for advance users. So got up this morning (UK) and made my coffee, thought let's keep trying to find a video that will help. There amongst a mixture of subjects was yours, I have to say a massive Thank You, your approach was so helpful and guess what I can now search my 43, 600 database of City/Towns and Villages in U.K. You example was the one for me as I had three columns, Locations (City/Town/Village), Counties and where in UK (England/Northern Ireland/Scotland/Wales). Have liked and subscribe to your channel. So might be your eldest follower at nearly 70, Excel is a great one for keeping the brain active. Regards Stewart 🔟/🔟

Hey MatureSimulator, Yep, most of my tutorials are geared towards my students level of understanding. Luckily, I have many students who are just learning Excel for the first time, so my lectures are typically geared towards beginners of Excel, even for more complex functions like VLOOKUP. Glad you were able to stick with it and glad this video was helpful. Hi Matt, You can try using the absolute values where needed, then using the fill handle to drag down or across. As long as your absolute and relative references are correct, then the formula should work.
Why you didn't made drop down list for Boxed set?? It would be easy

Hi Maha, I wanted to show the difference of choosing False/True for the function input argument. In a boxed list, it would have been impossible to spell it wrong, therefore making that argument unnecessary. I hope this helps.
