    I remember when we would not have dreamed of loading out of a stockpile with a hoe. That would have been a loader job. Interesting how much things have changed. Enjoy the vids as always. A good operator is always fun to watch.

    Yeah it's same with backhoe loaders hardly anybody wants them now, they are getting cheaper to buy used. it's mostly mini diggers and 5 ton +, in lots of places now. but for 90% of what i do with my backhoe loader the 360 style machine is useless.

    Takes a lot of skill to operate the Volvo excavators as smooth as that, as they are very sharp, quick and responsive to small movements on the sticks.

    If they used a wheel loader to load the trucks, We wouldn't have received the valuable lesson on how to use an excavator correctly. Such a demonstration is so rarely seen by today's operators. I am blessed and fortunate!

    The quad axle trucks are pretty cool. Up here, we are only allowed tri-axle straight trucks. We can run more axles, but they would have to be trailer dumps.

    I see it like this, There is the way Chris does it, the way I might do it, and the way you might do the job, all 3 might be slightly different ways. But as long as it gets done in good time as a paid job, how don't really matter . The ones that have no clue other than simulator games, better spend more time on them, and keep quiet. Or go get some real experience and find out operating equipment or farmings not as easy as they think sitting in their arm chairs. There's a sim video here on tube of a guy putting a backhoe loader up on a building flat roof, I'd bet he thinks he can do it for real on a machine that easy L.O.L !.

    Best haul we were on. Hauling top soil to a Dam Project for TVA. Hauled 9 days and man it paid unreal. They could not get weeds to grow. But after we hauled in topsoil. Now they can't keep the grass cut. HAHA Nice looking Quads for sure. What length beds are on those?

    letsdig18 so you sub out hauling to other trucking companies? im guessing a friend helps you move your bigger excavators around also? and in your opinion, im looking into getting my Class A in a few years if i ever do local hauling which tranmission would be better 6 speed automatic or 10 speed manual?

  • @tractormanmike1830

    @tractormanmike1830

    My opinion would be a 13 or 18 speed. A 10 will get the job done but the higher gears are spaced out quite a bit, the extra gears really help when pulling heavy loads.I've never driven an auto to know how they pull a load. Good luck on your class a, are you going to school or going through a third party tester

    Connor Hall , yes got that but still wonder whether it is worth it due to more fuel consumed? The excavator engine runs all the time and if it idles during low load, that might save some fuel, but on the other hand if you are paid by the result, that might change the picture
