Excalibur: FOOL! Cool video, everytime you said "Excalibur" I thought of the character from Soul Eater. XD

I've seen other videos were the sleeve sustained the blast, but I can't imagine inside the sleeve having no damage. I still wouldn't use that mortar again just be safe though! Too bad you didn't get it on camera, so we could check out the mortar.

Wow, when I did this it just expanded. of course I did not use an excalibur shell, I used a pro shell. Also I think something different would happen everytime we try. Cool video!

I have seen other people do this and in their cases nothing escaped from the mortar. The extra sleeve actually contained the whole blast.

Great video, please make more of this kind video. Example of different types of mortar, plastic，fiber, iron, stainless steel. And try different sizes shell. Hope to see more experiment

I recently had one blow up inside a shoulder-fired launcher I built. However, I had used 1/4" thick steel pipe. It just spewed the whole flaming mess out the barrel like a shotgun. No damage.

You should try it on tubes that aren't meant for fireworks to see what happens, and maybe torture tests on the fireworks. You could make a series on it or something :)

Maybe you could screw the wooden plate, on which the mortartube was screwed, to the pallet next time, then it won't blow away and be perfect on camera + wouldn't set anything on fire.. Other than that, great vids man! keep them coming! Greets from the netherlands, europe

What do you mean? Like building? I was debating on getting a 5 shot rack with the intention on blowing it up to see just how well a rack can hold up.

Did this on accident on new years, we were all still around 15 feet away, had the tube mounted to 1" 3/4 Manufactured particle board. Blew a perfectly circular hole into the board then launched the tube around 25 feet off the board, almost hit our car. We were pretty deaf from the blast because of how close we all were still.

I had a bigger balled mortar now lift and it blew up in the tube there was not one sign of damage in or out of the tube but I'm still deciding if I should still use the tube, anyone got an opinion?

Hm, do you remember what the shell kit was called? I've never heard of that before. Was the one shell in the mortar upside down?

HEY JOEL, i did the same thing u did! i couldn't get a video up due to problems with my camera but i had a different result. my whole tube sustained no damage at all just burn marks but no holes. i will try to get a another video of it for you. and i bought them at phantom fireworks which is the biggest rip of but i only get my cals there. RESPOND BACK TO TELL ME WHAT U THINK.

And lets not forget, sleepy (most NYE shows are around midnight).

Laurence Hartnett I read about that in the news. However, after looking up videos on youtube of people actually launching mortars out of a tube with it on their head (still very stupid and something I don't condone), I saw that they weren't hurt or at least not badly. I think the guy either put it in upside down and/or I read in one of the videos where a guy went camping with 2 friends and did the same thing. Except for he didn't hold it securely to his head. Apparently if you don't hold it on a secure base, it blows the plastic bottom out of the tube and it will explode right onto the head.

Great vid bro was kinda weird how it blew out the side. Thought it was made like that to prevent it. Oh well either way I enjoyed the vid..

this 4th of july im getting a case of cals and ill defintally post a video. as of now i have no firework videos because of my camera. but im prolly going to make a new channel just for firrworks

If I don't say that then a lot of people jump down my throat saying I was encouraging people to do this. Also, this video would be against youtube community guidelines if I do not tell you to not do this and could then get removed. The purpose of the video is to inform people what can happen if you are not paying attention, drunk, or just to stupid to care what you are doing when lighting fireworks.

are the Excaliburs the loudest shells you've seen?

last year I got a box of mortar's that was 6 + 1 free. But they packaged the free one already inside of the tube! on the 4th it was dark and I almost loaded another on top of it lol. gotta be careful

i bought some lock and loads and they kick ass. The store was out of excals and i was PISSED.

Excals are so badass! Best damn shells I have ever used and I am just days away from using many many many of them! Lol I always load mine with the side that says "TOP" -->Up! Call me crazy but Just seems to work better that way! :) haha

Concern I have is 1 upside down in a 30 tube rack, will the 1 upside down cause the other mortars to fire in any given direction? When you use 1 tube looks like you are OK but if you have a 30 rack with one upside down will this cause the rest to fire sporadically injuring the crowd? That is the question I have and I wish I could see that test... My rack tubes are extremely close together.

most likely yes. you can damage tubes around the falty one and have those mess up aswell amd possibly cause a chain reaction

ManwaMasterPlan my friend was shooting shells off a pre-loaded tube all night on the 4th then after I looked at the tube & I told him, "you know this tube is pre-loaded right" & he he responded with "duuude I was shooting mortars with this tube all night!!!" Haha then we shot it off and worked just fine.

The shell was placed upside down to show what can happen if you accidentally did this. It's required to have at least one tube per six shells, but HDPE can fire much more than six shells. Think about professional tubes that can fire hundreds of shells in a year. Changing the tube after six shells is really only important for cardboard tubes. If you inspect the tubes and they are not showing any damage, you can continue to use them.

Yeah, I shoot excaliburs with the reinforced HDPE mortar inside of one of the holes in a cinder block. Don't mess around with these boiyos.

Okay, now place a shell correctly in the same tube.

That wooden pallet is not a good idea.. just makes it easier for the mortar to tip over!! Very dangerous!.. use flat hard surface!

I hate those xcalibur mortars. Tried making a poor mans rack using those and couldn't get that base off! That shit is durable. I've hammered bases off other ones but that thing wouldn't budge!

Yeah it's one solid mold I believe. I normally just drill straight through the base to attach it to the rack.

Joel Robinson​ Quick ? I built a 6 shot rack with bases hammered off of standard sized tubes using 2 x 4's. My two side vertical boards were 11" tall but they are too thick. I ended up with like an inch and a half gap between the mortars and the side rails. Had to go buy some filler wood. What is a good measurement for using to build a 6 shot rack? I know you prolly build em all the time. Should I have went with something other than 2 x 4's for the side vertical supports. I wish I could send you a pic so you could see what I am talking about. Do you have an email I could send it to?
