I wondered how the laser came down at a vertical angle in one mission and then could only fire in a direct line when you destroy it. Guess its just Belkan genius how the laser dosen't lose power when firing toward a satellite and then back down

I feel obligated to point out this is a solid-state pulse laser, chemical lasers operate entirely differently. Still amazing video, though!

Maybe, it's something similar to the EOIL (Electric Oxygen Iodine Laser), a hybrid between chemical and electrical lasers?

Belka was charitable or humble enough to at least share lasers and burst warheads to Osea and Yuktobania respectively eventually arming the Arkbird and the Scinfaxi-class with these superweapons. God bless Belka and her people!

@@SolutusEversol Excalibur + nuclear power plant can work, as long as there are sufficient amounts of reactants. If we swap chemical laser for a free-electron one, it'll be able to work as long as NPP and cooling systems are working.

to think that the arkbrid exist, would that makes emplaced laser system obsolete?, i think thats one of the reason why this gigantic laser system is abandoned, I can imagine how expensive the construction are and how much energy cost to shot a single discharge. if it is to shot down ICBMs or other intercept able warheads, railgun that cost less that pure energy is doing better job. as pre drone era from the ac7, they could suicide clash this missiles with lower budget. aside of the efficiency and stuff, excalibur is one of my favourite mission from ac series, would repeat the whole story just to get into that point

This is my enginnering brain but why would you use solar as a backup? Its would be better to use solar as primary with the power stations topping up the power that is needed. That would be way more efficient and would lessen the strain on the power stations...

The Arkbird utilised a similiar laser in AC5's mission six and it couldn't take down all of the burst missiles fired by the Scinfaxi
