Humanise the speaker (talk about their story that links to the talk instead of reading off the 'facts') 3. Keep your intro 30-40 secs 4. This is an EXCELLENT video. Thank you SO MUCH Riaz. I have a question -- with a virtual event, saying, "Please welcome FIRST LAST" might fall a little flat because there is no applause. Would you do it a little differently in that situation? ❤🙏

  • @RiazMeghji

    @RiazMeghji

    3 жыл бұрын

    Xane, This is a terrific question. You have a strong point here. For the virtual setting, this introduction line at the end could fall flat. Two points for consideration here: 1. In a virtual setting, if I’m emceeing, my intention is to make it a fun and engaging experience for the audience. Before introducing any speakers, I invite the audience to participate as much as possible including with virtual applause eg. jazz hands to have some fun and bring energy into the space. This has worked well the many times I’ve done this. That way when we use the final line - “Please Welcome Xane Daniel”, we may not hear the traditional applause, but we see it and so does the speaker and that helps them hit the ground running. 2. Now if the group is more conservative and wouldn’t play with the idea of a virtual applause or jazz hands concept, I’d tweak the last line to “Here to speak about unconditional love and how to overcome depression by yourself, we’re lucky to have Xane Daniel. Welcome Xane.” Then have you as the speaker pick up the cue seamlessly and away you go. Either way, I’d still encourage the first and last name in your final line(s) of the intro. Reading the room and discovering what your audience is up for is a key element to this for any host, emcee or person introducing a speaker.

  • @XaneDaniel

    @XaneDaniel

    @@RiazMeghji OK. Yeah, the "Welcome, Xane" is a good way to go! Because with the online expo, it will just be broadcast to hundreds of people on FB and YT, so there wouldn't even be a way to "jazz hands" -- the audience isn't on camera. Thanks for this insight!!
