    I used 2 from the perimeter formula. Once I found the length and width, I then plugged into P = 2L + 2W.

    Why is this question in my homework has different numbers in each side, The upper length is (7x - 12) meters while the opposite length is (x + 24) meters, the right width is (3x) meters and the left side is (x + 12) meters, pls help i need answers and im finding the value of X and the dimension of the rectangle

    The shape in your homework is a rectangle? And the variables are all x? One attribute of rectangles is that opposite sides are equal, so you can set the top length equal to the bottom or set the right side length equal to the left side length. Either way, you should determine the value of x. Then plug that value in to determine the dimensions of the rectangle. Good luck!

    my homework question is The length of a rectangle is 3 m greater than the width. The perimeter is 38 m. What are the dimensions of the rectangle? im getting confused because on all the videos Theres for example 2 times the width but my question dosent have that

  • @helpyourmath

    @helpyourmath

    We use 2 times the width because that's the formula for perimeter of a rectangle. The equations we want to use are P = 2L + 2W and L = W + 3 - then substitute in W + 3 for L in the first equation.

    The width of a rectangle is three- fourth of it's length. Find the dimensions of the rectangle if it's perimeter is 42 units . Please solve

    Assume Length = L, Width = W = (3/4)*L; so, L+L+W+W = perimeter , or 2L + 2W = 42. then plug in L into W; 2L + 2(3/4)*L = 42 --> 3.5L = 42, -----> L = 42/3.5 ----> L = 12. If L = 12; W = (3/4)*L = (3/4)*12 = 9 Proof: 12+12+9+9 = 42 units

    There are a few variables given here: P=112; L=2W-10. We can use these to answer the questions. Since P=2W+2L, substitute L for the expression it is equivalent to (2W - 10) and solve for W. Then the area will be the product of L and W. Good luck!

    @@kieran3408 Hmm, based on that information, I would set up the equation as 56 = 2L + 2(L - 4) Though I don't know which was the smaller dimension... this would produce a longer length (switch L to W if the width is longer). Is this similar to what you did?

    Once I plugged into the perimeter formula and simplified, I wanted to get w isolated. Subtracting 6 from both sides gets all constants (no variable) on one side of the equation and all variable terms on the other.
