It’s like this in Canada too. Early Childhood Educators, which is what you have to have in order to teach preschool/daycare, only get paid around 15 dollars an hour, and minimum wage is 13.50. That’s with a diploma and finished school. No one can live off of a wage like that, especially given rent increases, inflation, etc.

I'm so confused by the US tax-system, so this might seem like a stupid question, but are the 27k you make before or after taxes? And also; which benefits does the taxes get you? I'm trying to figure out how "low" the US/teacher salarys really are compared to my country. I live in Denmark and work as an office assistant. I get paid roughly 45.000 usd before all sort of taxes, which equals to 27.000 usd a year AFTER all taxes deducted. (a teacher usualy gets paid more than this) The taxes are alot, but then have free health care (doctors, hospitals etc.) and because of added health care from my job I also get free apointments at chiropractors, therapists, massages, and so on (litteraly almost everything you can think of). I feel my 27k efter tax is waaay to low, and I don't even have to worry about anything regarding my health, getting unimployed, wanting to study again etc... Like, it would be no issues for me finding a house or an apartment, and you are questioning the possibilities of just moving out on your own. 💔 It's insane how different it is around the world, and I really feel greatful.. Sorry for my rant - it's just mindblowing to me.

  • @han-mg9eq

@@miateut6884 honestly I’m confused about the us tax system as a us citizen lol. It sucks. The 27k is before taxes, it’s about 21k after taxes. My hourly rate is about $18/hr. Also here since teachers don’t work the summer months I only get paid for 9 or so months of work, but it’s dispersed over the 12 months of the year. So I get a paycheck every month, but am only actually getting paid for 9 months if that makes sense. My paycheck each month is $1800 after taxes and the mandatory retirement fund. And where I live most studio apartments are around $1800/month. I’ve thought about living in a trailer park but even trailer homes are too expensive for me. It’s honestly so soul crushing. Also I really don’t get a ton of benefits, I could sign up for health insurance but I’m still on my parents’ insurance for a couple more years. Also since it’s my first year I only get 9 days of paid time off for the whole school year. Honestly just a really tough situation because I enjoy the job and love being around the kids but I cannot even dream about being able to live on my own with this job.

@@miateut6884 can’t answer for that person, but typically in the US when we share our salary it is pre-taxes. I’m also a teacher in North Carolina and make $45k before taxes but the healthcare we get is very limited and you have to spend a lot of money (high deductible) in order to have it kick in more. This salary is way below average for my state, esp for someone with a similar education and years of experience.

I know so many women with the same struggles, myself included I think there are a few reasons: - when your bladder doesnt empty fully when you pee, so your bladder gets fuller faster OR - your detruser muscle might be overactive OR - your pelvic floor muscles may be weak. You can do bladder training to stregnthen your pelvic floor but if it becomes bad, there are meds you can take!

  • @emilianowaczewski4605

Yes! I used to think it's because I drink so much water, but it's actually that my pelvic floor muscles are constantly strained/tense (hypertonic) so I have to work on relaxing those muscles. Just clarifying my experience because if the muscles are hypertonic/tense, then "strengthening" exercises can actually make it worse. So glad that women are paying more attention to these kinds of issues instead of sweeping them under the rug.

I hope you two know, I still remember pre school, some scary memories and some good, but mostly scary. I would have probably had less issues if I had a teacher who cared as much as either of you at any age. I grew up around adults which severely hurt my development and made me very in tune and mature at a young age. I was never hurt by bullying or anger directed towards me, even from adults, because at a very young age I understood that they weren't actually harmful. As I got older I started resenting my peers and family because I wasn't able to connect with them, not realizing that they shouldn't have to live up to my expectations. I never liked being around kids my age because they were rude and unaware of what actually matters. Now I realize that everyone is unaware, including me, you drift towards awareness when you accept the fact that there are things you cant know. You cant try to understand everything and then get mad when others try and do the same and don't figure things out as quickly. Nobody is void of flaws and mistakes, I will be rude again no matter how I try and avoid it because there are circumstances and people I can't know until I experience them. Inevitably I will say something to someone that will make them mad. Now, I know that if I apologize and act genuinely all should be well. I am still dealing with plenty of issues but all of the issues I just outlined can be traced back to not having any friends at my age and maturity until I was in 7th grade (USA). I am confident that a good teacher could have changed my life, for the better. Now I have to pick up all the pieces and it sure would be nice to have less.

I love knitting and crocheting so much and the idea of a mood blanket is so awesome and inspiring!! Maybe something I will want to do too! I wish I had done it during wedding planning to remember that season of my life... but currently pregnant so maybe a blanket now for the baby in the future would be so cool too!!!
