@@katesperinck1401 Actually, I started out playing Android Netrunner. Any time a player throws long-term sustainability away in favour of a last, desperate gamble, that's a Hail Mary, and it will seem to pay off a disproportionate amount of the time.

Holy crap not only is Day9 on point with most of his analysis but the 2 of you are an amazing comedic duo. Maybe you guys can do some more colabs in the future.

Dies to Doom Blade is a Magic the Gathering joke, as Doom Blade is a 2 mana kill-most-things-removal spell and at the time, anything that didn't get you immediate value would be bad due to "dying to doom blade". Now people just use it as a meme to make anything sound bad ("yeah, but it dies to doom blade, therefore it sucks")

As a old MTG player (played until 6th edition and picked it back up in 2019 for a year) I had to look up the card. Reminds me of Terror. Although terror has the added benefit of not allowing regeneration (we called it Bury back in the day), but the downside is not being able to use it on artifacts.

It’s not only just a meme but also is valid argument - “I play a creature” -> “I kill your creature” is a common interaction between players. So if you play a creature and doesn’t get anything out of it (assuming your opponent kills it right away) then it’s a questionable inclusion.

He's played a lot of many different card games so he has really good instincts. He's had his hopes crushed too many times. I feel like Rarran always gives Cornelius Roame, for example, as a bait but devoid of all logic Day9s instincts immediately told him how bad a 6-mana yeti would feel to play.

Day9's ratings are terrifyingly accurate. For a person who has not touched the game in years, it is really, really good. And Day9 is just hilarious as always.

Call back to when I was in a control mirror. I played prison of yogg while entering fatigue, and you'll never believe what happened. It cast 3 arcane intellects, killing me on the spot. 10/10 will use again :)

'Dies to doomblade' is an absolute classic of MTG jokes/lines/bits. For context for anyone wondering: Doomblade is a 2 mana spell that says 'destroy target non-black creature'. When evaulating the quality of a creature card it is often useful to consider how well it protects itself and what value it provide besides simply being on board (e.g. ETB or dies triggers will make most cards a lot better). So the idea is if a card dies to cheap removal like doomblade then it isn't worth much, especially if the creature has a much higher mana value than 2 and doesn't provide ETB or death value. The bit is pretty versatile since you can use it sarcastically to evaulate a genuinely good card (e.g. 'Questing Beast might have a lot of text but it dies to doomblade'), or you can use it while sincerely evaulating a card (e.g. 'Questing Beast might have a lot of text but it dies to doomblade').

This is the best of the series by far. Your chemistry with day 9 is amazing. And the videos went from feeling unprofessional to start with,some understanding mistakes and whatnot but now you have really mastered this video style W Rarran.

Day9 is such a uniquely charismatic dude. Smart. quick and just always good vibes.

As a dedicated Hearthstone player (who started with Magic), I laughed out loud at "dies to Doom Blade".

Only 4 minutes into this video, and Rarran, you knocked it out of the park again. If Day9 is ever available to make more videos with you, please try and get him for more, because these videos are honestly so so good!

Day9 is the best card game personally. If you disagree you're bad, you should feel bad, and no one loves you. Rarran plus Day9 is a broken combo

You really should show them the prenerfed version if the card was nerfed. Two reasons, first it gives them a better chance of them getting it right, second if they get it wrong, you can show that it was so strong they had to nerf it.

Day9 hearthstone nostalgia is hitting so hard. I almost smiled the entire video because of this man. I am also this guy. Haven't touched HS since Season 3? Which was Secrets of Naxx I believe.. but played OG HS with all the AID's decks like Zoo, and Control warrior, an Miracle rogue, or OTK Druid.

That take on Cornelius Roame was so on point. This guy looks so good, was very hyped up going into the expansion, and then people tried it and it just feels bad. Absolutely amazing intuition!

This video is so much better knowing that rarran is a massive fan of day9.

The other thing with far watch post (outside of the mandatory +1 mana tax on at least 1 card) is A LOT of classes usually relegate early turns to playing draw cards. This curves right before your Arcane Intellect, Shield Block, Spectral Sight, etc. and even IF they deal with it on curve they still had to spend a removal tool on a "1 drop" that doesn't do anything regarding the board.

Day9 is unfathomably based, brilliant card analysis and objectively funny humor

On the Scholomance thing, basically it was a mage academy that Kel'Thuzad founded while he was the Lich King in order to train new necromancers to join his forces.

Few notes: you said highlander was introduced with descent of dragons, but that's not true. Reno was all the way back in League of Explorers, 4 years before. And there were many highlander cards between then and descent of dragons (Mean Streets). You also said "for the first time ever you got dual class cards" which while technically correct, Day9 played during Mean Streets which had multiclass cards. Dual class was just a narrower version of something they'd already done, it wasn't really new. You said he doesn't know dormant minions, but he was around for Un'Goro (Sherazin).

This day9 guy has some on-screen charisma, it's refreshing. I like those other old players you showed stuff to, but I like day9 better
